A Top Bernie Sanders Adviser Is Named In The Evidence List For Paul Manafort’s Trial

An exhibit list released this week in the Mueller investigation cites emails from 2014.
It was previously reported that Tad Devine, a top Sanders strategist, stopped working in Ukraine in 2012. He lied.

SNIP
His role in the investigation entangles the Sanders orbit in an expansive government inquiry that has probed questions surrounding Russia’s interference in the US election, Trump’s potential obstruction of justice, and the insider world of lobbying and influence in Washington that runs counter to the Vermont senator’s own brand of insurgent anti-establishment politics.

Devine’s firm, Devine Mulvey Longabaugh, continues to do work for Sanders, who is running for reelection in the US Senate this year, as well as other 2018 candidates.

Manafort and his former associate Rick Gates, who served as Trump’s deputy campaign chair, worked on behalf of Viktor Yanukovych, the former pro-Russia president of Ukraine, beginning in the mid-2000s.
Devine also worked in Ukraine with Manafort on Yanukovych’s behalf — a long-public business arrangement.

Such a fine bunch to be closely connected to.
The trail leads straight to Putin.

I'm sure Mueller will put it all in perspective real soon.
Sure would be good if Mueller can lift the Manafort/Devine weight hanging from Sanders' shoulders.

We'll wait...

1. I didn't support Sanders in the primary.

But if he runs I don't want any Democrat to be tainted with Russia. If he keeps Devine around people will imply he is guilty by association so I hope he cuts ties with Devine. There are no shortage of consultants who would love to work for him.

46. Don't think he'll be able to run as a Democrat

as the remaining faction of his early following in the party becomes increasingly hostile to mainstream Democrats.

Hopefully the current trends will reverse as the Mueller report and prosecutions climax, but right now this nation is developing factions who fight Russia (Democrats and a minority of conservatives) and those who either merely welcome Russia's assistance in their fight against Democrats and/or those who actively ally with Russia (Republican Party, other conservatives/libertarians, and some left-wing groups).

For a long time Sanders himself has been straddling those sides, occasionally siding with Democrats against Republicans, fighting to unseat Democrats from office, and presumably only tacitly accepting Russia's assistance in trying to weaken the Democratic Party.

Now that Sanders has ditched his temporary identity as a Democrat, though, many of his harder-core followers have ditched any straddle and deepened their antagonism toward the mainstream of the Democratic Party. As this type goes more extreme, the differences between them and the extreme right grow narrower.

Ohio's OR types endorsed Dennis Kucinich, a long-time apologist for Russia who's become a Fox commentator, endorsed Hannity's claims of a Democratic "deep state" out to get Trump, cast Michael Flynn as a victim, and at one point called Trump's Russia problems "a bunch of nothing." Many details in Kucinich's behavior have even lead some to speculate that he might have been compromised by Russia in yet another "how else to explain it" phenomenon.

So many examples, but a rather frivolous one that nevertheless sticks is the Our Revolution chapter that somewhat bizarrely was going to protest at a Hillary Clinton speaking engagement a couple months ago, something that must have made sense to them. Sanders dissociated from their actions, but that they chose to attack Clinton instead of any of dozens of corrupt, fascistic and even treasonous Republicans in their region is indicative. As is these types' pervasive hostility toward us on social media wherever they gather.

This type would, of course, support Sanders running as a Democrat as long as they saw it as a hostile incursion into the party, but as they become increasingly known for hostility, I really doubt we'd allow this in 2020. Hopefully, their enemy-of-my-enemy support for Russia will become too damaging to continue by then, but it could also instead increase.

2. Don't we have a rule about spreading and fueling conspiracy theories here at DU?

There is nothing in the linked article regarding "Putin asset" as your OP describes. Nor has Devine been charged or indicted for anything.

4. Its not a ct. Its in the Buzzfeed article. And is a true fact.

Nothing in TOS to remove this from DU.
It is legitimate.
Mueller's finding was made public. What are we supposed to believe? We have a duty to question this.

We should be concerned whenever its found out that the Kremlin has links to our Party.

I'm sure Sanders is concerned as well & am sure he will denounce Devine's business ties between Manafort & his campaign.

It is said Sanders was used by Devine/Manafort.

Bernie Sanders needs to clear his name from this nasty connection that brought us Donald Trump.

ASAP PLEASE! Then we can all move forward assuredly.

We have a right & a duty to expect it be put to rest.
Sanders is the only one who must do so.
Clear his good name.

Thanks

35. Nowhere is it okay to attempt to include a sentence in a published article

that is not put there by the reporter who wrote the piece. Unless it's Fox News. They do it to mislead and obfuscate, those of use who pay attention can catch that trick easily. It's not cool to attempt to pass off one's personal opinion as a part of a reporters published story in a way that attempts to make it read like a part of the story.

27. Did the Buzzfeed article call Devine a "Putin asset"? No, but your OP leads with it. And that ...

is nothing but a theory -- a conspiracy theory imo.

Not to mention you embellished the conspiracy theory further with your statement that it was in
Mueller's finding". Your quote exactly. The evidence list is not a "finding" by any stretch. It's a list of evidence that will be introduced and used in the trial used to support the charges against Manafort, not Devine ... and there is zero indication that Devine is going to be accused or indicted for a crime by Manafort.

7. The words "He lied." are not in the article either. Those were causally added by the OP

after this paragraph from the article:

"An exhibit list released this week in the Mueller investigation cites emails from 2014. It was previously reported that Tad Devine, a top Sanders strategist, stopped working in Ukraine in 2012.

No sentence containing the words "He lied." in the article as it was
written by Ruby Cramer whose article the poster tampered with. The article then goes on to the next paragraph. Very deceitful thing to do by the poster.

Emails and documents from Tad Devine, a political operative who served at the highest levels of the Bernie Sanders campaign, could be presented as evidence in the Special Counsel’s Office’s prosecution of Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign chair.

And NOW Mueller's findings show Devine was a regular in sharing emails & contact with Manafort as late as 2014, which incidently is the same time RU got heavily involved in selecting Trump above all others.

"HE LIED", Is not a lie.

https://writingcommons.org/open-text/research-methods-methodologies/integrate-evidence/incorporate-evidence/453-inserting-or-altering-words-in-a-direct-quotation

What punctuation should be used when words are inserted or altered in a direct quotation?

When writers insert or alter words in a direct quotation, square brackets—[ ]—are placed around the change. The brackets, always used in pairs, enclose words intended to clarify meaning, provide a brief explanation, or to help integrate the quote into the writer’s sentence. A common error writers make is to use parentheses in place of brackets.

The Truth of the article still remains the truth of Tad Devine's Lie that he had nothing to do with Manafort since their old electioneering days in the Ukraine for Putin.

Proof remains in Manafort's EMAILS.
Imagine that. Its Manafort's EMAILS that'll bust this coup on America's Govt wide open.

The only one who knows what is contained in the documents and what they prove or don't prove are Muellers team and the courts. It will come out in their time. Devine's company represents or has represented a lot of Democrats over the years, not just Bernie Sanders.
I did find out that Julian Mulvey was the Creative Director of the Bernie Sanders for President TV advertising.

We voters have a right & a duty to expect this be dealt with swiftly.

You are correct about Clinton.
I recall that with a Wall Street speech she was condemned to being forever "in the pocket of Wall Street"

This Kremlin link is far more serious & I hope Sanders stands up for his good name and quickly denounces all ties to Devine until Mueller either indicts Devine or clears him.

This is extremely concerning.
Sanders can immediately put the concerns to rest.

Only wish Bernie would denounce his current ties to that Manafort powder keg.

Seems like an aweful lot of correspondence passed from Manafort to TAD.

Mueller already knows what those conversations were about.
He already has read the EMAILS.
That's why he made public the list

He knows what was discussed as the campaigns were just being formed.
That is a timeline that sets the stage for the rest of the campaign.

Will be an interesting moment when Robert Mueller pulls the veils from the faces.

him for months in 2015 and 2016. But he kept quiet about it. Russia continues to promote his dissension by greatly augmenting those of his messages they find helpful in their war against the Democratic Party.

This all only came out when revealed by others. Sanders did NOT inform the nation of or denounce Russia's involvement on his behalf. He also did not warn his supporters of the deluge of toxic Kool-Aid the Kremlin was and is aiming at them specifically and apparently often by name, imo a major betrayal of all who trusted him.
