(9,951 posts)violent crime, including firearm deaths, are at a 20 year low, the crime rate has been halved in the last 20 years.
Logical
(22,457 posts)And compare murder rates.
You are a huge gun fan I realize, but stop saying our murder rate is ok.
You folks always want to compare it to the 90s and not to the UK, France, Canada, etc...NOW,
Makes you look really biased and makes me really question your stance.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)but the US is a safe country except for a few places, tourists are very safe here.
Logical
(22,457 posts)I'm not understanding what you're getting at.
The US is a very safe country to visit for tourists, do you deny this?
Logical
(22,457 posts)Other countries like us. You start spinning like Wayne.
I have my CC and numerous guns but can still admit guns cause a lot of murders here. And our murder rate is terrible.
You on the other hand want to spin it as tourists are safe so guns are not an issue.
You are as biased on this topic as they get.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)but that doesn't change the fact the US is very safe for tourists.

You say propaganda? I say truth.

(12,194 posts)I saw downthread, that you like to make insinuations:

Yet here you are, keeping your own propaganda going:
Guns do not cause anything on their own, as you well know.
Practice what you preach I suppose, right?

Seems childish and immature to me.

Not to mention the highly sexualized gun advertisements over the yeas.
Most curious indeed.

I don't think I'm the one who's fantasizing. Certainly I don't fantasize about being the "good guy" who'll stand up to defend a helpless crowd from a murderous, gun-toting "bad guy."

And every firearm owner I know who concealed carries, including me, certainly don't fantasize about being the "good guy" who'll stand up to defend a helpless crowd from a murderous, gun-toting "bad guy."
You really have a vivid, yet warped, fantasy of firearm owners.
Seek help.

All the people I personally know here in the US own guns and they are not the perverted ones.

Please, share with us your stringent diagnostic criteria.

(9,951 posts)to the male anatomy.
As I said, it's childish and immature.
Orrex
(63,228 posts)I find it perverse in the extreme that some would worship their guns so piously that concerns about mass murder and general public safety are considered extreme.
And any discussion of regulation or control is treated like an assault on sacred principles rather than as a reasonable examination of the increasingly obsolete second amendment.
You're upset about dick jokes while innocent men, women and children are slaughtered by the thousands.
And you have the nerve to suggest that I'm perverse?
Get over yourself.

(63,228 posts)Ask them what they think of the sexualized gun ads, along with the obvious and undeniably phallic imagery associated with guns in popular culture.

(1,098 posts)Many gun owners suffer from a lack of self-esteem and consequently construct fantasies in which they and their firearms play a central role.
They often view themselves as the 'sheepdogs' whose role it is to protect us 'sheep,' who are unarmed and seen as lacking courage and/or intelligence (they believe if we had more courage and/or intelligence, we would be armed as well, and thereby fellow 'sheepdogs' instead of 'sheep'). From whom do they think they protect us? The 'wolves' though the nature of the wolves varies, depending on which 'sheepdog' you ask. Most 'sheepdogs' see criminals as the 'wolves' but of course some also view the government as one big, bad wolf.
They are the 'warriors,' the 'tactical operators,' the 'freedom fighters,' and a host of other things that gives them a special purpose in life and in their minds elevates them above the rest of us unarmed cowards and idiots. The source of that perceived power? Their firearms. The source of their fantasies? Their lack of self-esteem, aka 'tiny penis'
Boudica the Lyoness
(2,899 posts)About 'sheep dogs'; sheep dogs are herders. I think you are thinking of guard dogs.
You are so wrong about low self-esteem and tiny penis...........lol
Have you ever seen a male gun owner naked? I HAVE. lordy lordy lordy....lol.
Silly topic.

(1,098 posts)The concept of sheep, sheepdogs, and wolves comes from Lt. Col. Dave Grossman
http://killology.com/sheep_dog.htm
Some people consider the police and the military to be the sheepdogs, but many gun owners put themselves into the same category.
