White America and Black America have two different views, by and large. Too many White Americans have dismissed the experiences of Black Americans when many of them try to tell their stories.

I'm not sure what it's going to take to wake people up.

This is usually said by people who believe if they say something it might happen. Like mentioning their car breaking down will cause it to break down and thinking it runs best past a junkyard out of fear they might pull in.

They want to pretend cops are ALWAYS the heroic good guys.

particularly if they feel helpless to change it. "Ignoring it" translates into a whole lot of defense mechanisms--suppression & repression, denial, dissociation, disengagement, etc., all very unhealthy for both the individual and the society.

The Corporate Government has been putting a lot of effort into teaching us that we are helpless, disempowering us. They don't want us organizing without their "help." Remember when FEMA shut down Occupy's very effective operations during Sandy, only to replace them with…nothing…?

You just posted a bunch of links that back me up.

The Pew poll shows less that half of whites believe the cops treat blacks equally. The Gallup poll asked about "confidence in the police" and only 27% have a lot of confidence in the justice system.

As for the "Have you been treated badly in the last 30 days" all I have to say is, " " seriously? That's a really stupid question. As if a majority of the public has the cops in their face on a daily basis.

"Because of intensifying civil strife over the recent killings of unarmed black men and boys, many Americans are wondering, “What’s wrong with our police?” Remarkably, one of the most compelling but unexplored explanations may rest with a FBI warning of October 2006, which reported that “White supremacist infiltration of law enforcement” represented a significant national threat."

I'm not a big fan of the FBI, and I don't alway believe everything they say,
but dude ... I do believe their 2006 report saying that the KKK type white
supremacists were infiltrating the police departments across the nation.

You keep skirting the issue, while blaming ME of giving the KKK "more credit
than they deserve'. <-- (FU on that one).

Here's the report again, titled "WHITE SUPREMACISTS INFILTRATION OF
LAW ENFORCEMENT"
since you seem still oblivious to its existence:

http://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/402521/doc-26-white-supremacist-infiltration.pdf

Despite the report being heavily redacted, it's meaning could not be any plainer,
as the title says it all.

If you REALLY think the FBI just pulled this out of their ass, then SAY SO.
or STFU.

Let me document the most cringeworthy aspects:

  • I'm pretty sure Normal Rockwell would not particularly enjoy having his style being used to make this statement.
  • The implication that all cops are KKK-style racists is fucking horrible
  • The suggestion that the US is just a veneer for the old days of slavery is equally despicable

Like all of us here, I'm appalled at the continuing series of horrific incidents involving some police officers. But this? No, there are better ways of expressing our outrage and fixing the problem.
