If you notice every initiative that is on the ballot that is "democratic passes overwhelmingly".
But the reality is most white people do not want to identify with the party of n****ers,Jews,Mexicans, gays and Asians(except those hot asian women). I know the Asian part because white men will date asian women but white women won't date Asian men( the percentages are astounding).
So it comes down to tribal.

(10,745 posts)All I can say is, honestly, if things really were as horribly awful as you they say are.....well, guess what? We wouldn't even have a *white* Democratic President now(much less an African-American one!). Romney, or maybe someone worse, would have won in a landslide. The Teabaggers would have something like 70 or more in the Senate now, and not 53. I'd even go as far as to say that we might have become a full-blown police state a long time ago.....the last time a country became out and out dominated by outright hardcore racists, overt or not, there was eventually the implementation of a thoroughly planned genocide that may have killed as many as 18 million people whom that nation's ruling elite deemed "inferior". That nation was Germany under the Nazis, and that genocide was the Holocaust.
And before anyone jumps to radical conclusions here, this isn't a denial of any of the various problems we *have* had in this country. But let's get some perspective here, shall we?

(4,528 posts)for the people who vote. Look at the percentage of white vote the democrats get. It is pretty minuscule. It is in the neighborhood of 30%. How do you explain why every democratic initiative passes yet the people who represent those views lose and yet people who are 180 degree different in those views win. read the rude pundit today.

(10,745 posts)I stand by what I said 100 percent. I'll also say this.....we exaggerate the number of racists in this country at our own peril; that will be just one more thing the GOP will use against us the next time we go to the voting booth.
How do you explain why every democratic initiative passes yet the people who represent those views lose.....
The sad truth is, I'm afraid many of those further left than myself may be correct this time: we didn't run on our successes. We tried too hard to not sound the least bit radical. And, frankly, having a white male president really wouldn't have changed all that much in terms of the "mushy middle", not this year.

(4,528 posts)I said it is who we identify with. There is a percentage of people who do not identify with those groups and it will always be like that. My son is handsome and he has a hell of a time getting a date in Georgia. i had a hell of a time getting a date in Georgia and ended up marrying a girl from Chicago.
My daughter is a mix and she likes kind of Mexican. She doesn't get a second look down here. she went to NY and she immediately noticed she was being looked at.
I didn't say all but it is true that many white people just don't want to be associated with the democratic party because of the groups they are identified with.

Not the best place for multi-cultural acceptance, I'd say, nor is it representative
of America as a whole. Please.

(29,346 posts)I live in Arizona and it isn't an estimate, there are a lot of racists & bigoted people here and it isn't just limited to white folks who have these prejudices.
I didn't even factor the racially charged rhetoric that is common in Arizona when making that statement. One of the weakest state district Obama performed was East Mesa. Same place a convienent store owner that was Sikh was killed because bigots that he was a Muslim terrorist. The legislature is a good place to find this behavior.
I'm sure this study on the racism which seems to be documented throughout Phoenix's entire city history effected present attitudes today.

(4,528 posts)but this year
White men voted Republican by 64-34 percent, the widest GOP advantage in this group in data since 1984. Seniors 22 percent of voters backed Republicans for the House by 57-42 percent.

(36,286 posts)Party has a lock on the groups you named. The Republicans then figure they can win by energizing the whits who are afraid of those groups. The Democrats think they can win if they can win over a small number of whites by not scaring them. People may support a party's goals, but they won't come out and vote if the party is afraid to stand up for its goals at election time.
While we're at it - I think your "tribal" needs to take into account generational demographics. The Democratic Party has the support of younger whites, it just needs to demonstrate enough of a difference to motivate people to go out and vote.

(6,747 posts)You sure know quite a bit about Asian dating stats!
wilt the stilt
(4,528 posts)More interesting patterns can be discovered if we take a deeper look into statistics. One of such patterns when it comes to Asians, and especially Chinese is related to the gender disparity in interracial marriages. That is, the number of Chinese women marrying white men is 2 to 3 times higher than the reverse tendency (Chinese men marrying white women).
whathehell
(29,517 posts)What makes you draw that conclusion?
For what it's worth, I'm a white person with no "special" access to Asians, and I've personally
met THREE White women who are married Chinese men.

question of why you think those stats prove "racism" as the cause
for the statistical disparity.
Why, for instance, would white women be more "racist" than white men? ..If membership in the democratic party
is any indicator, while women are less so.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This post is the very definition of over the top. From the use of the "N" word (obviously, letters were substituted with *, but I would offer that that is acceptable when quoting hate speech ... not using it as part of your statement. If the poster believes his statements to be true perhaps he could have been less offensive about it. DU is one group (we are white, black, male, female, trans-gender, we are Asian, gay, rich poor ... it is NOT being "too PC" if we try not to use language that hurts members of the DU community
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Nov 5, 2014, 04:42 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: It seems to me that the poster is essentially quoting hate speech, rather than advancing a racist position.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Poster complains about white people being racist and then uses a load of racist bilge to make his point.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: The issue, in my opinion, is that, in he's claiming that "most white people" are racists he's being racist himself.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't agree...it's borderline hide, but I'll leave.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't think the poster is trying to be offensive, but rather he/she is trying to use the words our opponents use to get a point across. Further, the fact that he censored the word with *'s shows that he is trying to be sensitive to the groups being denigrated by conservative bigots.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: He is making a point, I do not believe he has these views.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

on edit: in politics, tribal doesn't necessarily mean racial, and I agree with what was said upthread; blaming every failure on racism among the electorate is both lazy and self-destructive.

(29,346 posts)In elections where old white men pour big money into old white men candidates voted in by old white men people wonder why other demographics have less desire to participate. Especially when it is all a big show with the same acts over and over.
