(39 posts)and HFCS is in bloody everything in this country!
corn syrup has already been shown many times over to be WORSE than sugar for the body.
well corn in general as it turns out.
it's a great crop when you're starving or you NEED to hold onto pounds for survival, but the evidence shows it really has no place in a modern diet, the same with pig meat.
we're not desperate peasants scraping for anything that'll keep us alive another day. here in the 1st, and I dare say even a portion of the 3rd world we can AFFORD to be picky about what we put into our bodies.
Europeans don't have the obesity problem we do partially because they DON'T have HFCS... at all... anywhere.
their cola is made with sugar - and they treat soda as a treat not as a regular part of their diet.
even college students drink soda sparingly. they usually drink tea - better in every way.
I know it's hard for us Americans to grasp, but we need to start EMBRACING the idea of LESS IS MORE, not deride it.
We can easily afford to cut HALF the meat we eat out of our diets, as well as get rid of ALL HFCS from all foods, and still eat like the pigs we are and still loose weight.
it's a pity that healthy eating has been eliminated as courses from school.
I took 3 years of foods/cooking in school and when i'm not emo-eating, I make delicious and nutritious meals.
it's possible to balance taste and nutrition... pretty easily really.
I just wish it was not such a derided concept here.
