(25,853 posts)Every day people here are crowing that Trump is finished, finished you hear? They happily predicted tons of indictments, and supposedly there are dozens of sealed indictments just waiting to be opened.
Even if those indictments are out there, they mean nothing if they are not acted on, if those indicted aren't actually brought to trial, convicted, and imprisoned.
I hope I'm wrong, but I still worry that in the end Mueller will file a report with Congress, leaving it all up to them. If he files such a report before November, I doubt the text of it will be available to the rest of the world. After the election, if and only if Democrats have essentially won every possible seat and have an actual majority in the House and Senate, maybe there's a distant hope of impeachment. But even then I wouldn't count on it.

(14,490 posts)Not a legal mind, but I would guess the dozens of cases resulting from the FBI and New York investigations will drag on for many years. And, I fear like you that many of the results will be disappointing. Therefore, we're going to need a lot of patience.
One result is for certain: the GOP will be long in recovering from this mess, and 10 years from now we'll also have the stench of their tax bill to rub in their noses. Unfortunately, far too many Americans have very short memories.
