Are you talking about just the US companies or Europeans and South American companies as well?

Other than boutique UK manufactures like Holland & Holland and James Purdey, he would be a disaster for the gun industry, but not for the reasons you think. Outsourcing, wage deflation etc. will lessen disposable income. No disposable income no trips to the gun store, fishing pole store, swimming pool store, stereo store etc. Many gun manufactures had a hard time during the depression like everyone else. Colt had a near monopoly on police and military sales, everyone else diversified or always was, like Remington. If you come across some old plumbing pipes with the Smith & Wesson logo on it, they are from the 1930s.

To give you an idea:

That said, Mitt tried to pander to the NRA and Brady at the same time. I think he is more afraid of a Blair Mountain re enactment than pissing the NRA off. That makes him a greater threat to gun rights than Obama IMHO. Obama is not Fienstien. Most gun laws are passed, anywhere in the world, because of political violence or racism. That was the case of Europe after the first World War and Canada in the 1930s and 1970s. Of course, our 1960s.

Think of the poor NRA, they will have to find a new boogyman to raise money and doc03 Oct 2012 #1
