No one wants to arm murders, robbers, rapist and anyone falling in line with those types of characters. Even if you made all the guns magically disappear more of the same would happen, and here in America we can get plenty creative on ways to do it. Sensible control on purchasing and vetting of individuals should definitely be strengthen and penalties for crimes committed with fire arms should go up too...But in to many situations gun charges are dropped or pleaded out in cases for confession of guilt.
