New York student, pulls an AR15 rifle on some people...

..That where actively breaking into his house. Good thing the robbers knew that the AR15 "is ONLY good for killing lots of people, has absolutely no other use at all, and only crazy people and mass killers have them" Since they where of the peaceful sort of home invaders, they ran, and possibly, STILL running...

3. When they have "perps" in custody the story will have legs. But there are helpful elements.

 

According to the gun owner, the weapon was properly locked up and stored unloaded.

When common sense prevails and gun owners are subject to strict liability for unsafe practices, there will be a lot more who treat weapons with due respect.

This story may not be believable, but maybe some gun owners will learn a valuable lesson about how to treat a weapon with respect. Had the gun owners who provided the weapons to the killers in Colorado and Sandy Hook been as responsible, there would have been no deaths.

there will always be weak, frightened, people who cannot live without a crutch.

Gun safes and trigger locks should be part of the gun control debate so that the weakness of some doesn't become a detriment to the rest of us.

Weak, frightened, people have a "victim" complex because they see danger around every corner.

When you are an ant, you are constantly afraid of giants.

Unfortunately many gun nuts are ants who think that a gun makes them a giant. In fact, they are just armed ants. Not the same as a giant.

A) have the power to do ill
B) have the willingness to do ill

Having a firearm you are competent to operate available for your protection will, in certain circumstances, negate or, at minimum, equalize A) in a way no other method can. And without A), B) often goes away, at least long enough to resolve the immediate situation.

That is one of the primary problems. Too many gun owners feel that a gun is a magic wand that gives them power over others.

A black kid in a hoodie in your neighborhood- get your gun.

Teens playing loud music- get a gun.

Guys at the bar ribbing you because your team lost the big game- a gun makes them respect you.

I have a better solution. Self esteem and a measure of backbone.

Are you unfamiliar with the guarantee to "the pursuit of happiness"?

Of course I have the right to AVOID ills -- so do you -- we just don't have the guarantee they won't find us anyway.

USING your gun in any of those situations is already a felony, so why heap more regulation on top of what is already there? Unless your motivation has nothing to do with preventing felonies.

24. Actually Stand Your Ground Laws make murky the illegality of those scenarios.

 

And "Pursuit of Happiness" is not a Right outlined in the Constitution, but is a short phrase in the Declaration of Independence, by no means "guaranteed".

25. SYG has been around since

the Progressive era, mostly through common law. Even without the laws, the federal level and most if not all states have been SYG for quite sometime. California since about 1895.

A right endowed by a Creator trumps a right endowed by Congress any day of the week (and twice on Saturday). Are you familiar with any part of the Constitution that negates rights endowed by my Creator?

You should consider yourself lucky that the 2A is only a Constitutionally-guaranteed right and not guaranteed by the Creator.

Who are you to assume that I'm even protecting myself from home invaders every night?


You don't even know. But you fundamental problem is you drop everyone in the same box and assume things meant to be condescending.



I've got 2 close friends who were saved by guns, and they did it without shooting... but the presence of the gun is what turned the situations around.. That trumps anything you've got to say about the matter.

No one wants to arm murders, robbers, rapist and anyone falling in line with those types of characters. Even if you made all the guns magically disappear more of the same would happen, and here in America we can get plenty creative on ways to do it. Sensible control on purchasing and vetting of individuals should definitely be strengthen and penalties for crimes committed with fire arms should go up too...But in to many situations gun charges are dropped or pleaded out in cases for confession of guilt.

Guns are far too easy to come by.

We have to do thorough background checks. May take a long time, but it must be done. Many people will fail and cannot have guns.

Sales must be regulated and private sales will not be allowed (just like liquor or cigarettes).

Gun owners will have to be liable for the weapons that they acquire. Mandatory gun safes and trigger locks.

(Sandy Hook and the Colorado Mall shootings were performed by killers who got their weapons from irresponsible gun owners who did not secure their weapons.)

Maximum sentences for gun crimes, including liablility for irresponsible owners.

Do all gun control advocates live in fear of Olympic target shooters? I noticed that Feinstien's bill seems to ban those pistols as "assault weapons" as did California until it had to be amended to accommodate Olympians.

Go to the store, the bank, anywhere in public and private without a weapon. No problem.

But the Lord blessed me with the three B's. Balls, brains and backbone.
