My kid sister was in her home in Big Bear. What we do know is that she was able to dial 911. Rescue forced open the door and found her on the floor. When they got her to the ER, the staff realized that she needed more help then what was available locally, and transferred her down the hill to the Loma Linda Medical Center. The Loma Linda doctors determined that the damage was too great to survive. My poor niece, and nephews just buried their dad 7 or 8 months ago, and now had to make the decision to take my sister off life support.
I got the news as I was driving east, and it took a couple of days for my asshole company to reroute my truck home. Services won't happen for a while, it will take a total of 10 days to have my sisters remains to be cremated and returned so I'll be back on the road Monday. My dad is in a physical therapy unit in Colorado, so the services will be scheduled when we both can attend.
We tried to talk my sister in to moving down from Big Bear after Mark died, but she would have none of it. I talked to her on the phone about two weeks ago and she seemed to be fine, and in reasonably good spirits. My Nephews said that as far as they know, there was nothing wrong with her.
My wife thinks she died of a broken heart, and selfishly I hope she is wrong, I now have one.
