4. There is ONE law standing in the way of full equality--and it's not the fault of the Pentagon.

It's DOMA. Congress can fix this with a couple of quick votes.

DOMA needs to be repealed. Once it is, all of these restrictions will cease to exist.

The Pentagon is giving what are frequently called "non-command-sponsored" benefits to the spouses of these servicemembers....this sort of treatment is very similar to the minimum services provided to "federally approved" family members who follow their spouses, at their own expense, to non-command sponsored (i.e. "isolated&quot duty assignments.

They deliberately don't provide family support (housing, schooling, medical/dental) at these places because they don't WANT the family members accompanying the service member.

The Pentagon wants to move forward on this matter but they are constrained by an unsupportable and bigoted federal law. Why can't Congress move forward, too?
