(90,704 posts)General Discussion was a place for honest sources. DU had a sense of humor about itself. "Underground" was about the common cause of surviving BushCheney, and not undermining fellow Democrats. It was agreed that if the country was to survive, we would have to make common cause with those with whom we did not agree 100%. It was raucous, but it felt productive.
Odd how that lasted right up until we got an actual Democrat in the White House, at which point it became clear that a surprisingly large number of people had no clue how that works. As in, working, producing, progressing.
Some were just along for the continual rage, indiscriminately. Indiscriminate rageaholics are worse than counterproductive-- they're boring.
Why am I here? I have friends, for one thing. There are some good and thoughtful people here, and I enjoy their contributions. Why are you here?
