(23,664 posts)When Clinton was elected in 1992 I was hopeful and excited that he would undo some of the fuckups of the previous 12 years.
When he ran for his second term I was pretty much disillusioned but I voted for him because he was preferable to his opponent.
By the time he left office in 2001 I was glad to see his ass going out the door.
When Obama was elected in 2008 I was hopeful and excited that he would undo some of the fuckups of the previous 28 years.

I'm on schedule to being happy to see him go in 2016.
I thought maybe Obama was a candidate who recognized that things were pretty fucked up in the US and that the voters really wanted something different. Evidently they weren't fucked up enough that he felt the need to change them.
I understand he has had an obstructionist congress standing in his way. I'm just sad that he hasn't tried very hard.
And I will think very hard before I vote for any candidate who doesn't announce his prospective appointments for offices like Attorney General, WH Chief of Staff, Treasury Secretary. Rahm Emanuel should have tipped us all off.
