One of the knuckledraggers writes, "Commercials with either an all White or all Black cast offend no one, but a rational person would have seen that this commercial was controversial and could cost them sales."
I agree that it will cost them some sales (although also gaining them some). I also agree that any rational person would know that -- and the Cheerios people, having maintained this cereal's popularity for decades while other brands have come and gone, are quite probably rational.
My conclusion is that they knew they'd get some blowback like this, but they went ahead with the ad anyway. Three cheers for General Mills and their ad agency!
