And in 1991, the Oceanos sank off the coast of South Africa. No one died, but not for lack of trying.

When word spread among the Oceanos' crew that the engine room was flooded and the ship was going down, the Captain and his crew took to the lifeboats and abandoned ship, leaving the 571 passengers to fend for themselves. Were it not for the members of the musical band on board, led by Moss Hills, it might have proved a shocking disaster. Hills and others in the band managed to organize the passengers, get them to the high side of the sinking ship, and notify the South African air force who sent helicopters to airlift everyone off.

So yeah, a fire and backed up plumbing, even in a 25 knot wind with choppy seas, might be bad but I doubt it counts among "the worst cruises ever." Probably not even in the top 50.
