(5,763 posts)Is that great in your book? So far, I don't see one credible source on your side to say he's wonderful, he walks on water, he's not offering cuts to social security (which has been reported by reliable media outlets like NPR).
Considering that some people will say anything from the MSM is too corrupt to rely on for anything (when criticizing Obama), and the MSM might include alternet and TYT in their minds, what the hell do you want? What motive does the MSM have now, anyway? Are they trying to keep Obama from winning a 3rd term?
Not only that, but anything said here can be checked against Google and Snopes if you want to test it. Providing sources was a reasonable demand before the Internet. Now, it's the phoniest argument in the book. The only job a poster has now is to make you curious enough to find it yourself. If it's something remote, like just reported in a scientific magazine, then there's a reason. The demand is now practically only made to obfuscate discussion.
Now, when I disagree with something and I know the fact is wrong, I tell the poster to check it, do their research. I usually don't demand a source, except when I can't find it first. What is my providing a source going to do if they can't bring up Google and look? Saving them three clicks on the mouse is supposed to make them curious and open-minded?
Obama's offer on Social Security has been reported everywhere. Huffington Post, headline story yesterday.
On other Obama matters, if I provide a source, like, say, Glen Greenwald or Juan Cole, then Greenwald and Cole are attacked as being unreliable, even though they both source their writing meticulously. If the person were interested in sources, they would have checked the sources of Greenwald's information before coming back to negate him as a source.
We're not going to stop Obama from winning another term. If debate about policy can't take place in a lame duck term, when can it take place?
