(101,403 posts)No, the OP is full of shit. It's about a massacre by a man who had weeks to plan it, and special access to the school. But, when it happened, they stopped selling pyrotol to the public, tightened up access to dynamite, and -lo! No more mass killings with dynamite or pyrotol! But the OP tries to say "no, banning the method of killing never works". They're wrong.
"Using the recent tragedy towards political ends"? It's RegieRocker who is saying "you can't tighten up gun laws, or the Democrats will lose the election in 2014". "The gun-banning zealots", as you want to malign them, want to make it more difficult to kill people. Not to get votes, but because it's the right thing.
"I guess the gun-banners will be thrilled when 30,000 people a year are killed by weapons other than guns. Is that the only solution?"
Christ, what a fuck-witted straw man that is. It would look stupid even among the crap Fox News puts out. No, that won't happen. It doesn't happen, in reality. There is no other developed country with anything approaching the murder rate of the USA. People cannot murder as many people with other methods. It's the easy availability of guns that marks out the USA.
