The link went to another thread, which admittedly I started, describing the two pronged attack on our nations economy. One was the Plutocrats causing a spike in unemployment, and the second was the Government going over the fiscal cliff, and causing even higher unemployment. With the Rethugs secure in their seats in the House, remember they gerrymandered their seats to be as safe as possible, they are just short of bulletproof in re-election bids.

Here are the companies that have already said they're laying off.

Welch Allyn 275 layoffs
Dana Holding Corp. Unknown total, but a good portion of their 25,500 Worldwide
Stryker 1,170 positions at the last estimate.
Boston Scientific Between 1,200 and 1,400 positions eliminated
Medtronic 500 already eliminated, with another 500 slated for 2013

But that's not all.

Smith & Nephew - 770 layoffs
Abbott Labs - 700 layoffs
Covidien - 595 layoffs
Kinetic Concepts - 427 layoffs
St. Jude Medical - 300 layoffs
Hill Rom - 200 layoffs

Now, the questions is, what can we do to prevent it or minimize the impact of it. That I don't see as clearly as I understand their plan hatched months ago as an insurance policy in case Robme lost.
