(14,881 posts)This was during the time when "you create your own reality" and "perception is reality" were on the rise. The marketing mantra where I worked was "We don't have problems. We only have solutions."
Anybody who dared speak truth about a less than wonderful situation, no matter how fixable the problem was...just to suggest something is not perfect or call it a problem...was immediately labeled "negative," dissed and when the chips were down, dumped.
"Houston, we have a problem?" Yeah, they'd be screwed.
Rove is a child of that era. He honestly believes that perception is reality and if you control perception, you control everyday reality. If you have enough money, you can do that to an extent...but no further.
There is some truth to it...but at a much deeper, less material level. Creating the right mindset leads to right decisions that can lead you to the reality you want to create. It all relates to "be the change you want to see." But there will be setbacks and while you're on the road to your personal reality, you may get run down by a drunk who can't drive to their reality fast enough. So you have to drive carefully and watch where you are going and keep an eye on the other cars that may be headed in a different direction toward a different reality.
Anyway, they were abusing a philosophy and turned it into bs, and the bs came back to bite the turd in the butt.
Which brings us to karma kickback, aka shit on a boomerang.
