Thinking out loud here, so bear with me ... [View all]
I was watching the RMS. She did a segment that had had Rove spouting his "mystery polling" numbers for Ohio and then the frosty reception that he received from other op pundits (or pollsters). I think it was the Plaid Addler that said this showed rove's irrelevance.
I think different ... I think rove's confidence was in his knowing that the fix was in on Ohio (think those "experimental patches); but sometime before election night (or maybe on election night), gop operatives said, "Screw this, that lawsuit failed; but the DoJ can (with an order from any Federal judge) come in and seize the entire voting system. I'm not going to jail." But they had to leave rove out of the loop ... so that he would do exactly what he did in Ohio in 2004, point to his numbers and be believed. They had to have him look like an ass, in order to shut down any action. Had he made the claim and they supported him in the claim, the DoJ still could have moved to seize the machines.
