In reply to the discussion: DU Exclusive: Gravis Marketing exposed as a fraud Part I [View all]Denzil_DC
(7,241 posts)147. You're welcome, Samantha
I saw after I posted that ProSense had posted much the same information upthread.
It's not so much a question of weighting (Nate's weighting of Gravis has usually been low - i.e. the amount of significance awarded its results) as outright contamination and manipulation of the narrative and polling averages (along with Nate's singling Gravis out in his post since there was very little CO polling available at that point).
Digging around a few places, it seems that Sam Wang at Princeton Election Consortium has now chimed in in the comments at the Angry Bear blog:

Sam Wang here from the Princeton Election Consortium.
I think that Mr. Kaplan could allay concerns by specifying whether he follows generally accepted principles of polling as described by the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), whether he is a member, and where he gets his technical expertise. To my knowledge, reputable pollsters of all stripes, clientwise, do that.

And Mr. gravismarketing has now been PPR'd.
It's obvious there are other firms out there up much the same tricks. We need to expose them.

I did a Google search on 'Mr. Kaplan' (first photo) and it appears to be a stock image.
