(well technically it's land, but mostly all swamp down where it hit, that could keep it's engine going for awhile longer)

Not just intended water containers - just about anything that will hold water will do in a pinch...

Your storm situation very different. Katrina was only Cat 3. Isaac will be Cat 2, hit NOLA directly
