(6,907 posts)On 2004, the state of Michigan went blue and voted for Obama. In that same election, the state also voted for a state constitutional amendment barring gay marriage.
In every county of the state, the votes against the amendment paralleled the votes for Obama; counties that voted for Obama voted against the amendment in approximately the same proportion. With one exception: Wayne County. Wayne county was overwhelmingly for Obama and against gay marriage. The difference was the African-American churches in Detroit, who got the vote out for Obama and against gay marriage.
Another example is that one of the strongest voices against gay marriage in New York was from conservative Orthodox Jews in NYC.
And really, you think that Islam supports gay marriage? Seriously?
On the other hand, there are liberal Christians that do support gay marriage.
You are painting with a broad brush, over simplifying the world, and that doesn't do you any more favors than it does the right wingers you are speaking against.
