(2,322 posts)The question is, which groups make such exclusion a part of their teachings, agenda, values and belief system? Even a part of how they define themselves and who belongs to their group? An African American might not want a woman to have birth control and might fight against it, but African Americans aren't, as a unified group, trying to keep insurance companies from giving women birth control. And no African American would say, "You're not African American!" if a fellow African American said, "I believe in birth control for women."
But the Bishops of the Catholic Church said to a group of nuns that they weren't being truly Catholic (part of the faith, part of the church, part of the group) if they weren't also teaching that being gay is wrong.
Your point is valid, but apples and oranges in regards to most of the groups on the list. Not all, but most.
