Legendary Michigan Football coach protected team doctor that molested his own son

Bo Schembechler’s Son Says Father Protected Team Doctor Who Molested Him

Last month, a law firm hired by the University of Michigan to investigate claims that a former school doctor named Robert Anderson sexually abused dozens of patients throughout his 37-year tenure at the school. The law firm’s investigation concluded that Anderson, who died in 2008, “engaged in a pervasive, decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct,” with much of the abuse being carried out against student athletes. The investigation also concluded that legendary Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler, who coached the team from 1969–1989 and died in 2006, was aware of Anderson’s conduct. That conclusion is now being supported by Schembechler’s own adopted son.

Matt Schembechler, now 62 years old, will be giving a press conference later Thursday detailing how he was abused by Anderson and how his own father went out of his way to ignore and cover up that abuse. Matt spoke to both ESPN and The Detroit Free Press in advance of his press conference, and provided some details about his experience. Matt claims that he was molested by Anderson during a routine sports physical when he was 10 years old, less than a year after Bo was hired to coach the Michigan football team. Matt says that when he told his father about the abuse, Bo reacted violently. From ESPN:

Matt said Anderson fondled him and did “an anal probe” when he visited the doctor for a sports physical prior to joining the pee wee football team. According to Matt, when he shared those details with Bo, the coach told him he didn’t want to hear about it and then got physically violent with both Matt and his mother.

“That was the first time he closed-fist punched me,” Matt told ESPN. “It knocked me all the way across the kitchen.”

ESPN

Matt claims that shortly after he told Bo about the abuse his mother went to Don Canham, who was the university’s athletic director at the time, to tell him about what Anderson had done. Matt told ESPN that he remembered his mother telling him that Canham was ready to fire Anderson, but was prevented from doing so by Bo, who intervened on the doctor’s behalf. “Bo went to bat for Anderson and got him back working again,” Matt told ESPN. “He wasn’t going to have anybody change his team.”

Back in May, the law firm that investigated Michigan concluded that administrators at the university, including Bo Schembechler and Don Canham, received “contemporaneous information about Dr. Anderson’s misconduct from multiple sources” as far back as the 1970s, and that “Dr. Anderson’s misconduct may have been detected earlier and brought to an end if they had considered, understood, investigated, or elevated what they heard.”

Roger Federer Withdraws From French Open, Cites Fitness Concerns

Roger Federer has withdrawn from the French Open, citing fitness concerns: "It’s important that I listen to my body"

World No. 8 Roger Federer has withdrawn from the French Open following his third-round victory, citing a need to rest, Roland Garros announced.

The 39-year-old won in four sets (7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5) against Dominik Koepfer on late Saturday night in a match that lasted three-and-a-half hours. After the match, his third win in the last week, Federer hinted at reassessing his status in his first Grand Slam since January 2020 as he continues to ease himself back from multiple knee surgeries.

"After discussions with my team, I’ve decided I will need to pull out of the French Open today," Federer said. "After two knee surgeries and over a year of rehabilitation it’s important that I listen to my body and make sure I don’t push myself too quickly on my road to recovery.

"I am thrilled to have gotten 3 matches under my belt. There is no greater feeling than being back on court."

Does this mean the world is going to yell at Roger Federer for a week? Are "fitness concerns" more legitimate than "mental health concerns"?

Netanyahu Retweets Claim That "Overthrowing" Him Will Bring About The "Collapse Of Global Right Wing

sounds good to me!!!

The Jerusalem Post reports:

“The overthrowing of Netanyahu will cause a collapse of the global right-wing – from the United States to The Hague,” read the tweet shared by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s official Twitter account.

The statement, made by Yamina MK Amichai Chikli, who has stated that he will not be joining the coalition led by Yamina leader Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid, was part of a larger article which was retweeted by Netanyahu on Friday afternoon.

Earlier in the article, Chikli called Netanyahu an “icon of the global right,” and compared him to former US president Donald Trump.

Alleged insurrectionist who heckled cops for 'protecting pedophiles' served time for statutory rape

(CNN)A Trump supporter accused of storming the US Capitol and heckling police officers for "protecting pedophiles" previously served jail time after being convicted in the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl, according to court records reviewed by CNN and lawyers involved in the cases.

Federal prosecutors say Sean McHugh of Auburn, California, fought with police as they fended off the massive mob of Trump supporters outside the Capitol on January 6. During the scuffle, McHugh was recorded by police body-worn cameras heckling the officers with a megaphone.

According to prosecutors' description of the footage, McHugh allegedly shouted, "You guys like protecting pedophiles?" "you're protecting communists," "I'd be shaking in your little s--t boots too," and, "there is a Second Amendment behind us, what are you going to do then?"

His comments about "pedophiles" are particularly striking, considering his criminal history.
McHugh was convicted in 2010 on a state charge of unlawful sex with a minor, according to California court records reviewed by CNN and lawyers involved in McHugh's cases. McHugh was sentenced to 240 days in jail -- though he served less -- and got four years of probation.

At the time of the riot, McHugh was on probation for misdemeanor convictions for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, according to federal court documents.

McHugh has a long rap sheet of misdemeanor convictions, including multiple DUIs and trespassing offenses, according to Negin and a CNN review of California state court records. He is one of many rioters with criminal records, and he is one of a few rioters who were on probation or parole for other unrelated crimes when they went to the Capitol on January 6.

This undercuts recent false claims from some Republicans, who have whitewashed the violent attack and claimed that the rioters were well-meaning patriotic Americans with clean records.

Republicans pushed this lie at a recent House hearing about Capitol security failures. Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar complained that "the FBI is fishing through homes of veterans and citizens with no criminal records" and claimed "law-abiding citizens" were being targeted. Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert also recently said on the House floor, "their only crime was supporting Donald Trump."

Firefighter killed in 'tragic' shooting at LA County Fire Station 81; investigation linked to house

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - A gunman opened fire Tuesday at Los Angeles County Fire Dept. Station 81 killing one firefighter and injuring others. The suspect then allegedly fled the scene and set fire to a home in nearby Acton.

Shortly before 11 a.m., deputies from Palmdale Station responded to the station located in the 8700 block of Sierra Highway, regarding multiple gunshot victims at the location.

The firehouse is located in the Agua Dulce neighborhood northeast of Santa Clarita.

-snip-

Authorities initially were in search of a suspect in a white Toyota pickup. That search led to a home in the 2600 block of Bent Spur Drive in Acton, where a short time later a structure fire erupted.

Video from SkyFOX appeared to show a body in the pool on the property on the house fire in Acton. Unconfirmed reports indicated it might have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It's unclear if the person is the suspect.

-snip-

Property records show that the home was owned by an individual who previously worked at the fire department.

I don't think she's interested in ending the filibuster - raising the minimum wage - protecting voting rights or anything else progressive.

An objection to the 1619 Project on the grounds that it does not focus enough on the roles of...

... "courageous whites" is an ideological objection, not a factual or historical one.

https://www.theassemblync.com/long-form/nikole-hannah-jones-a-mega-donor-and-the-future-of-journalism/

In a September email, Hussman, who is white, took issue with a section of Hannah-Jones’ 1619 essay on the country’s post-World War II struggle for civil rights, in which she wrote, “For the most part, black Americans fought back alone.”

Hussman wrote: “I think this claim denigrates the courageous efforts of many white Americans to address the sin of slavery and the racial injustices that resulted after the Civil War.” He listed white Freedom Riders and other whites who had fought for equality, including journalists across the South. The email was sent to Routh and copied to Guskiewicz and King.

“Long before Nikole Hannah Jones won her Pulitzer Prize,” Hussman wrote, “courageous white southerners risking their lives standing up for the rights of blacks were winning Pulitzer prizes, too.”

Despite Hussman’s concerns, King continued to pursue Hannah-Jones. After a lengthy faculty and administrative process recommended tenure, Board of Trustees member Chuck Duckett raised questions and asked for more time to get answers. The university instead offered a five-year, fixed-term appointment—without tenure—to Hannah-Jones.

In an interview with The Assembly, Hussman declined to address his communication with UNC-CH officials about Hannah-Jones. He said he still considered himself a working journalist and was bound by his company’s code of ethics, which prevents newsroom employees from publicly taking sides in contentious matters.

Hannah-Jones' claim that black Americans "fought alone" for their rights most of the time is open to interpretation but it's more than defensible; it's also one of the claims people are *most* offended by.

schadenfreude alert: Vaccine Conspiracy Theorist Rick Wiles Hospitalized With COVID-19

Conservative pastor Rick Wiles has apparently fallen ill with COVID-19 after condemning the vaccines that fight the disease, baselessly claiming they're being used to carry out a "global genocide."

Wiles—the founder of the conspiracy-promoting TruNews website and the senior pastor of Flowing Streams Church in Florida—asserted on this show in late April that he would not get vaccinated against COVID-19 and would survive the "global genocide."

"I am not going to be vaccinated," he said. "I'm going to be one of the survivors. I'm going to survive the genocide.

He added, "You and I are witnessing the first global mass murder and it's being led by Satan's team on the planet. You must survive it. Do not be vaccinated."

Then this week, TruNews, in a post to its official Gab account, noted that there was a COVID-19 outbreak at Wiles' church and asked for prayers.

"Flowing Streams is experiencing a sudden cluster of flu and Covid among some employees and their relatives. Rick Wiles made the decision tonight to close the offices and studios until a TBA date next week," the Gab post explained. "Our team needs to tend to sick family members. Please pray for your TruNews team."

On Saturday, TruNews made a follow-up post, urging supporters to pray specifically for Wiles. "URGENT REQUEST - please be praying for Rick Wiles right now," the organization wrote. "Please repost so that there's an army of people praying."
