Ron Paul site: Weed planted in hotel rooms at Republican Convention

the Paulies are kinda crazy .... Just saw this blog post pop up in a google search - of course, by posting this, I dont condone the behavior... just thought you might find it interesting:

from the blog:

The Republican National Convention in Tampa has been delayed due to Tropical Storm Isaac, but there’s already plenty of drama unfolding according to The Daily Paul, a fans site of the GOP libertarian, Constitution-backing candidate.

Tweets re-post in an article by the website have shed light on an intriguing possible subplot involving pro-Ron Paul delegates in Tampa that deserves a good look from the local and national media (but probably won’t receive it).

According to the website and the Tweets, marijuana has been “planted in MULTIPLE delegation hotel safes inside the rooms of some Delegates…”

It sounds a little too strange to be true, unless you’ve been following the election news so far on the Republican campaign circuit.

Ron Paul supporters have claimed shabby treatment and multiple rules violations by Republican Party officials and supporters at various stops across the country.

Romney defends Swiss bank account

Source: Politico

By DARREN SAMUELSOHN |

Mitt Romney defended his foreign investments in an interview aired Sunday, noting that his personal finances have followed all U.S. laws and he got no special tax savings from a Swiss bank account.

“Well, first of all, there was no reduction, not one dollar reduction in taxes by virtue of having an account in Switzerland or a Cayman Islands investment,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said in a ‘"Fox News Sunday" interview. “The dollars of taxes remained exactly the same. There was no tax savings at all.”

Romney added that his blind trustee made decisions “entirely consistent with U.S. law and all the taxes paid were those legally owed and there was no tax savings by virtue of these entities.”

Rubio: Opposing abortion isn't about denying rights

Source: CBS

(CBS News) While President Obama ratchets up his attacks against Republicans on the issue of reproductive rights and abortion, Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida defended his party's stance on the issue.

"I think what's important to understand, yes, Mitt Romney is pro-life and the Republican Party, although it has diversity on this issue, is the home of the pro-life movement in American politics," Rubio said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation."

-snip-

Rubio told "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer that for those opposed to abortion, "this is not an issue about denying anyone rights. This is an issue about protecting the rights of a human being to live - irrespective of what stage in development they may be."

Romney Touts Romneycare: I’m The Guy That Got ‘Health Care For All The Women And Men In My State’

Source: Think Progress

Just two weeks after a Romney spokesperson faced a barrage of conservative criticism for highlighting the success of the governor’s Massachusetts health care law, Romney himself bragged that the measure has expanded access to women’s health care services, including contraception. During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Romney said he was “very proud” of Romneycare — which includes an individual mandate — for providing coverage to all women and men:

ROMNEY: With regards to women’s health care, look, I’m the guy that was about to get health care for all of the women and men in my state. They’re talking about it on the federal level, we actually did something. [...]

CHRIS WALLACE (HOST): So you’re saying, look at Romneycare?

ROMNEY: Well, absolutely. I am very proud of what we did, and the fact that we helped women and men and children in our state… And then with regard to contraceptives, of course Republicans, myself in particular, recognize that women have a right to use contraceptives. There is absolutely no validity whatsoever to the Obama effort to try and bring that up.

Watch it:

AP-GfK poll: Raise taxes to save Social Security

Source: AP

WASHINGTON — Most Americans say go ahead and raise taxes if it will save Social Security benefits for future generations. And raise the retirement age, if you have to.

Both options are preferable to cutting monthly benefits, even for people who are years away from applying for them.

Those are the findings of a new Associated Press-GfK poll on public attitudes toward the nation's largest federal program.

Social Security is facing serious long-term financial problems. When given a choice on how to fix them, 53 percent of adults said they would rather raise taxes than cut benefits for future generations, according to the poll. Just 36 percent said they would cut benefits instead

Mitt Romney's top NY donors among RNC delegation

Source: newsday

WASHINGTON -- The nearly 400-member New York delegation to the Republican Convention in Tampa, Fla., can't promise it will deliver the state's 29 electoral votes to Mitt Romney, but it can talk about a different asset it brings to the party: money.

New Yorkers have given $13.5 million to Romney's presidential campaign committee, second only to Californians, and some of New York's biggest campaign donors are going to Tampa as delegates.

As Nassau County Republican chairman Joe Mondello put it, "There are definitely a lot of money guys with us."

Dana Milbank: The GOP's rage platform

WASHINGTON — Let us give thanks to our Judeo-Christian God for the Republican Party. It is the only thing standing between us and the triumph of Shariah law in our land.

Some people may not realize just how close the nation is to succumbing to this puritanical form of Muslim fundamentalism. In fact, we only recently learned that our leaders engaged in a drunken swim, one of them without clothing, on a "fact finding" mission by Republican lawmakers to the Holy Land.

But the clear-eyed patriots who drafted the Republican Party platform can see a threat that myopic Americans have missed. The GOP platform committee, meeting in Tampa, Fla., in advance of the convention, approved language banning U.S. courts from considering foreign legal traditions. Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the brains behind several hard-line statutes on immigration, came up with the idea. "In cases involving either spousal abuse or assault or other crimes against persons, sometimes defenses are raised that are based in Shariah law," Kobach warned, according to Talking Points Memo.

This is just one of many policy innovations to appear in the Republican platform. The most-discussed one, following the Todd Akin flap over his comments on rape, has been the anti-abortion language: no exceptions, no way, no how, Just for kicks, the drafters tossed in a "salute" to states that have informed-consent abortion laws such as Virginia — the state that entered transvaginal ultrasound into the national discourse.

Mitt Romney the Anti Christ? (mmmmm...maybe?)

Tongue in cheek blog post I found interesting....

Could Mitt Romney be The Anti Christ??

Technically he could be. Mitt Romney could win the US presidency and then be appointed President of the Quorum of 12 ,within the Mormon religion the President of the Quorum of 12 is considered a Prophet and leads the Mormon church.

Part of the strategy of the LDS leadership is to invest in very powerful and influential holdings. Unlike most churches, they own TV stations (local network affiliates). They own power companies. Most worrisome of all, they have made a concerted effort to buy up thousands of acres of farmland, orchards, etc. under their many “dummy companies.” let's take a look at what the bible has to say about this

((2 Thess. 2:3) or the Anti-Christ. He will be a great political leader (Rev. 13:2) but with a religious component

(Rev. 13:4). He will control commerce and especially food distribution (Rev. 13:17). )

Finally lest not forget Mitts 1% percent status and his association with Bain Capital buying up struggling companies and throwing US workers to the wolves.

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15-20)

Now Let's look at Mitts minions.

Boston Bain workers criticize firm founded by Romney, to protest at Republican convention

Source: AP

BOSTON — More than 150 residents, elected officials and religious leaders in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood have bid farewell to workers headed to the Republican National Convention in Florida to protest against poor working conditions at companies owned by a firm founded by presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

Those traveling to Tampa, Fla., include current and former workers at companies currently or previously owned by Bain Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm that bought and restructured companies.

Bain made Romney fabulously wealthy. He has a net worth estimated at $250 million.

Boston-area workers on Saturday claimed they saw their pay and benefits cut, hours reduced and being forced to work off-the clock. Simara Martinez said conditions were "like modern-day slavery."
