freshwest's JournalFor his mother, and all mothers who have lost their children:
What a way to end the year. And for her, so many years of hopes and dreams destroyed.
Note the terms 'crime or a catastrophe.' A protest is neither.
So there is no protection there.
The less public ownership, the more private discretion, even if one thinks they can't trust the hemmed in government. Trying to get accountability from a corporation is like talking a mob boss who will ask you which leg you want capped if you don't like things.
It's the failure of participation and vision from individuals that allows this state of affairs, and it's been carefully crafted from years of media programming. It's all been normalized and the people let them get away with it because they want a quick fix and don't want to get their hands dirty with politics.
And that is where we are, with the dirtiest hands controlling the states where the worst of this goes on. Although FNN, CNN and now ABC, NBC and CBS are no better and have brought those mores to the entire nation.
The laws were changed so that about a half dozen rightwing billionaires control all the venues of information. And they have for a long time. We are camping on their property like the internet, just consumers and not producers, is their mindset.
That article is a nice idea if the FCC was in the same society it was when those laws meant the FCC could go out and police the private sector. They are all starved for funds, as people bought in the small government mantra. Meaning we would no longer have a We the People government, which had to be a big government to do the job, as there are over 300 million of us now who need solutions.
By such methods as tax cuts, they have allowed the crooks free rein in everything.
Oh, and Happy Holidays. Not snarking, really.
Another for you, sad but beautiful:
Andrea Bocelli Sogno
Va ti aspettero
Il fiore nel giardino segna il tempo
Qui disegnero il giorno poi del tuo ritorno
Sei cosi sicura del mio amore
Da portarlo via con te
Chiuso nelle mani
Che ti porti al viso
Ripensando ancora a me
E se ti servira lo mostri al mondo
Che non sa che vita c'e
Nel cuore che distratto sembra assente
Non sa che vita c'e
In quello che soltanto il cuore sente
Non sa.
Qui ti aspettero
E rubero i baci al tempo
Tempo che non basta a cancellare
Coi ricordi il desiderio che
Resta chiuso nelle mani
Che ti porti al viso
Ripensando a me
E ti accompagnera passando le citta da me
Da me che sono ancora qui
E sogno cose che non so di te
Dove sara che strada fara il tuo ritorno
Sogno
Qui ti aspettero
E rubero i baci al tempo
Sogno
Un rumore il vento che mi sveglia
E sei gia qua.
Go, I will wait for you
The flowers in the garden mark the time
Here I will draw the day of your return
You are so sure of my love
You take it away with you
Cupped in your hands
When you touch your face
As you still think of me
And if you need to, you can show the world
The world that doesn't know what life there is
In an uncaring absent heart
Doesn't know what life there is
In that only the heart can feel
Doesn't know.
Here I will wait for you
And steal kisses from time
Time is not enough to erase
The memories and the desire that
Remains closed in your hands
That you bring to your face.
You still think of me
It will follow you and passing me in the city
I'll still be here
Dreaming of things that I don't know about you.
Where is the road that You will take on your return
I dream
Here I will wait for you
And steal kisses from time
I dream
A noise, the wind awakens me
And you're already here.
He sang it for his father.
Lux Aeterna - John Rutter
Lux Aeterna (from the Book of Common Prayers):
I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they rest from their labours: even so saith the Spirit.
Lux aeterna luceat eis Domine: Cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
May we all find peace, while yet we live.
This is another one of my favorites...
Handel: Joy to the World! (John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers)
The words are by English hymn writer Isaac Watts, based on Psalm 98 in the Bible. The song was first published in 1719 in Watts' collection; The Psalms of David: Imitated in the language of the New Testament, and applied to the Christian state and worship. Watts wrote the words of "Joy to the World" as a hymn glorifying Christ's triumphant return at the end of the age, rather than a Christmas song celebrating his first coming as a babe born in a stable. Only the second half of Watts' lyrics are still used today.
The music was adapted and arranged to Watts' lyrics by Lowell Mason in 1839 from an older melody which was then believed to have originated from Handel, not least because the theme of the refrain (And heaven and nature sing...) appears in the orchestra opening and accompaniment of the recitative Comfort Ye from Handel's Messiah, and the first four notes match the beginning of the choruses Lift up your heads and Glory to God from the same oratorio. However, Handel did not compose the entire tune.
As of the late 20th century, "Joy to the World" was the most-published Christmas hymn in North America.
This is the version that my mind still plays from childhood. That and the Halleujah chorus of Handel's Messiah did it for me. Enjoy the season, shenmue.
There you go opening up another can of worms!

Yes, a masterful take down there. But The Spectator... well... And Auberon Waugh was known more for being a wit, but was a Journalist who clearly spoke his own mind.
The differences in English terminology and ours makes criticism of ideology difficult. Some may claim you are using a RW source. I'm not so sure... And English definitions and experiences are very different.
I'll get back to you on that, or maybe not.
In the meantime, Obama and his time with the CIA are well documented by Wired:
Forget Kenya. Never mind the secret madrassas. The sinister, shocking truth about Barack Obamas past lies not in east Africa, but in outer space. As a young man in the early 1980s, Obama was part of a secret CIA project to explore Mars. The future president teleported there, along with the future head of Darpa.
White House Denies CIA Teleported Obama to Mars
By Spencer Ackerman - January 3, 2012
...Perhaps this all sounds fantastical, absurd, and more than a little nuts. We couldnt agree more. Thats one of the reasons we love conspiracy theories - the more awesomely insane, the better. Each week during 2012, when the Mayans tell us to expect the apocalypse, Danger Room will peel back a new layer of crazy to expose those oh-so-cleverly hidden machinations powering this doomed plane of existence. Welcome - back - to Tinfoil Tuesday.
Officially, the White House says Obama never went to Mars. Only if you count watching Marvin the Martian, Tommy Vietor, the spokesman for the National Security Council, tells Danger Room. But thats exactly what a secret chrononaut wants you to believe...
OMG, Marvin is also black!
It is not known what exactly Obama did on Mars. (Socializing Martian health care, perhaps? Building a birth-certificate printing press?) His mission was a perilous one, according to Basiago and Stillings. The CIA wished to establish a defense regime protecting the Earth from threats from space as well as a legal claim to territorial sovereignty, making Obama something of a Martian conquistador. Presumably, Obamas CIA handlers needed him to acclimate Martian humanoids and animals to their presence in order to secure the U.S.-Martian alliance. (Well bet you werent even aware of Martian animals.)
Simply put, your task is to be seen and not eaten, an elder chrononaut, retired Army Maj. Ed Dames, is alleged to have told a young Obama...

Never heard of that one, huh?
My favorite next to how cats were sent to Earth to spy on us for extra-terrestrials and how Alex Jones is a reptilian shape shifter who was once Bill Hicks and an agent of the Illuminati.
Haven't forgotten your posts on cop killing Infowarriors and their ilk. Now you've heard it all.
Have a Happy Holiday in your world, uhnope.
MY PRESIDENT looking Lincolnesque there:
All he needs is a stove top hat.
Thanks for the thread, Sheshe!
Handel’s Christmas (12 guitars!) — Vince Carrola
Not a fan of guitar music for hymns, but he's good. Thought this would be of interest to my fellow BOGsters.
