In Honor Of Tonight's Breaking Bad Premiere: The Year In Meth

We're so excited for the final episodes of "Breaking Bad" that we've been reading our favorite real-life methamphetamine stories to get pumped. Walter White could take some tips from some of the suspects here, or at least note what not to do.

If there's any spoiler in this article, it's that the real-life Walter White got arrested. In September of last year, Walter Eddy White was put on probation after he was accused of trafficking and manufacturing methamphetamine. There's no word on whether he made the blue stuff, but the 55-year-old was later captured in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, according to LAist.

Then, there's William Duncan of Cass County, Texas. He doesn't share the Walter White name, but he does share the occupation. He's a chemistry teacher who was arrested for selling meth to undercover officers in the parking lot of the junior high school where he worked.

Bankrupt Detroit Just Left $1 Million Sitting In A Desk Drawer

This is the way Detroit did business as it slid toward bankruptcy, which it entered July 18. The move exposed $18 billion of long-term obligations in a city plagued by unreliable buses, broken street lights and long waits for police and ambulances. Underlying poor service is a government that lacks modern technology and can’t perform such basic functions as bill collecting, according to Kevyn Orr, Detroit’s emergency manager.

“Nobody sends million-dollar checks anymore -- they wire the money,” said Orr spokesman Bill Nowling. Except in Detroit.

“We have financial systems that are three, four, five decades in the past,” Nowling said. “If we can fix those issues, then we’ll be able to provide services better, faster, more efficiently and cheaper.”

From The "Don't Get Mad, Get Even" Department: Arizona Man Turns Tables On Robber Who Took Package

The flyer, which notes that the culprit "is either a woman or Dog The Bounty Hunter has really let himself go," lists the package snatcher's nationality as "Un-American," her distinguishing marks as a "shameful and super awkward running style" and her weight as "600 pounds."

Lake told HuffPost Weird News that he "actually felt kind of bad about the weight comment," but added, "then I figured if you steal from me, I have the right to make fun of you."

So far, he hasn't received any helpful tips, but says that his neighbors have been "really supportive" and the flyers have actually led to him making new friends in the neighborhood.

While the theft left Lake out $22, he says that the national attention the flyer has received makes it "worth it for the entertainment," and that Green Mountain Coffee has mailed him a replacement batch.

Los Angeles Area Bar To Offer County's Most Extensive Water Menu

Ray's & Stark Bar, the Patina Group's restaurant and bar located at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, will be adding a 20-item Water Menu to its beverage list next week. Eater LA reports that Ray's & Stark GM and water sommelier Martin Riese created the list which includes waters from ten different countries including Spain, France, Germany, and Canada. The bottles range in size from .75 - 1 liter, and are priced from $8 - $16. The most expensive bottle is Riese's own California-made water 9OH2O. Eater LA had previously reported that 9OH2O retails for $14 per bottle because it's made "in limited editions of 10,000 individually numbered glass bottles."

According to a press release, waters on "LA's most extensive Water Menu" will be for sale by the bottle and also as part of a $12 water tasting menu. Riese is quoted in the press release saying: "We are already accustomed to pairing food with wine or beer, but many people don't know that water is just as important to the entire dining experience."

Dumb Criminals: South Carolina Man Charged With Rubbing Buttered Toast On SUV

A man from Union has been arrested after a neighbor accused him of smearing buttered toast on her SUV.

Union County sheriff's deputies say 34-year-old Christopher Brannon was arrested Saturday and charged with malicious damage to property.

Authorities say a woman reported seeing Brannon wiping something on the back windshield of her SUV. The woman found a greasy film on the glass and a piece of buttered toast on the ground nearby.

Good thing "buttered toast" isn't a metaphor for something else!

Utah Man Accused Of Running Old Fashioned Speakeasy In His Garage For 7 Years

SANDY — A Sandy man faces charges after police say he ran a speakeasy out of his garage and sold drinks to an undercover officer.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/11JO0V1 ) 33-year-old Jared Williams has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge of running a business without a license.

Records show a citizen told police in May about the so-called "Dog Bar," named for a bulldog painted on the garage door.

Police say they sent an undercover officer to the home in June, and found about 10 people there.

The man behind the counter identified himself as Jared and reportedly told the officer he had started the bar with his father in 2006.

Plane Hits Cow In Indonesia, Skids Off Runway (No injuries)

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- A Lion Air jet carrying 117 people hit a cow while landing and skidded off a runway in eastern Indonesia, an official said Wednesday. No injuries were reported, but the incident forced the cancellation of flights, stranding hundreds of passengers traveling for the Eid holiday.

The incident occurred Tuesday night as the Boeing 737-800 plane was landing at Jalaluddin airport in Gorontalo on Sulawesi island with 110 passengers and seven crewmembers, Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan said. He said three cows were on the runway, and the plane hit at least one of them and careened off the runway before coming to a stop. The condition of the cows was unclear.

Maine Senate Candidate Defends Ad Campaign Where He Dances In A Speedo

A candidate running for a state Senate seat said video footage of him dancing in a Speedo for a drink commercial was being taken out of context -- and a little too seriously -- by political opponents.

Eric Brakey, a New Gloucester resident and Republican who recently announced his candidacy for Senate District 15, said a video circulating on the conservative website As Maine Goes and criticized by some activists was an outtake of a commercial for Vita Coco Coconut Water, a drink sold in stores across the country.

Brakey, an actor by profession, also appears in the full-length commercial dancing in a Speedo in front of a mirror. Other Speedo-clad men also appear in different scenes of the commercial dancing the samba, a Brazilian dance, in what is designed to be a comedic performance.

15 Ton "Fatberg" (Ball Of Fatty Food Deposits & Tissue) Removed From London's Sewers

Britain’s biggest ever ‘fatberg’ has been removed from a London sewer.

The bus-sized lump of wrongly-flushed festering food fat mixed with wet wipes formed in drains under London Road in Kingston, Surrey.

Had it not been removed it could have led to sewage flooding many homes, streets and businesses in the leafy London suburb.

Gordon Hailwood, waste contracts supervisor for Thames Water said: "While we've removed greater volumes of fat from under central London in the past, we've never seen a single, congealed lump of lard this big clogging our sewers before.

“Given we’ve got the biggest sewers and this is the biggest fatberg we’ve encountered, we reckon it has to be the biggest such berg in British history.

In Case You Ever Wanted To Know What A Smurf Smells Like:

Kids like scents, of course — scratch and sniff stickers and so on — and little girls experiment with grown-up stuff like lip gloss and heels and nail polish. But what in the name of Gargamel are we doing as a society when a company gleefully sucks $22 away from parents so that a five year old can smell like apples? Such a money-grubbing markeing move. Also, can we talk about how the Smurfs live in the ultimate patriarchy; they are shroom-eating gnomes ruled by one father. PAPA SMURF IS AN OPPRESSOR.

Don't worry, if you're over 10 years old, there's a fragrance for you, too: Smurfette Blue Magic, "billed as a more high-end scent targeting women between the ages of 13 and 30." The bottle looks like a sex toy and the liquid inside smells like "oriental mandarin, pink pepper, red raspberry and peach blossom" with bottom notes of "wet leafy greens, hyacinth and transparent lilac, sheer amber, patchouli and bright wood."
