NYT on Romney: 'an especially dishonest candidate-simply turns up volume on lie +keeps repeating it'
Romney Versus the Automakers
Published: October 31, 2012 67
When General Motors tells a presidential campaign that it is engaging in cynical campaign politics at its worst, thats a pretty good signal that the campaign has crossed a red line and ought to pull back. Not Mitt Romneys campaign. Having broadcast an outrageously deceitful ad attacking the auto bailout, the campaign ignored the howls from carmakers and came back with more.
Mr. Romney apparently plans to end his race as he began it: playing lowest-common-denominator politics, saying anything necessary to achieve power and blithely deceiving voters desperate for clarity and truth.
What Mr. Romney cannot admit is that all this is a direct result of the government investment he would have rejected. Its bad enough to be wrong on the policy. It takes an especially dishonest candidate to simply turn up the volume on a lie and keep repeating it.

SANDY's Fault: "Top Republicans already hinting that if Romney loses-his people will blame storm"
Republicans are More Nervous
Mike Allen: "Both sides are nervous, but Republicans are MORE nervous. They don't find it particularly encouraging that Mitt Romney was in Florida yesterday and will be in Virginia today - two states the campaign would love to have put away by now. Is Romney's 'expand-the-map' drive... a sign of confidence, or a Hail Mary frenzy because of trepidation about Ohio? The correct answer: It's mainly an effort to project confidence at a time when Republicans fear a slow-motion reversal of fortune."
"Top Republicans are already hinting that if Romney loses, his people will blame the storm for stalling his momentum. But D.C. GOPers acknowledge that having some of the nation's top auto executives call you out, when you're the business guy born in Michigan, ain't helpful."

"Romney romance is SO over!" say Rand, Intrade, & 538
The Rand poll has the race pretty much where it was on "Black Wednesday" October 3: Obama +5.
Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.blogs gives Obama a 79% chance of winning today. That's where things stood on September 24th, just before a brief uptick into the low 80s in the run-up to the debates.
And yesterday at Intrade, Obama shares traded as high as $6.90...a price that hasn't been seen since, you guessed it, October 3rd.
He's handsome and has a lot of money. And he certainly talks a good game. But bottom line, he's a lying sack of shit. Thank goodness Lady Liberty came to her senses in time!
Looks like breaking up isn't so hard to do after all.
