n2doc's JournalMark Morford: Trump is a most shameful and cruel old man
History is going to need a new thesaurus.
We are fast running out of sufficiently derogatory words for Trump and his vile, cancerous administration. "Cruel" has become a frontrunner, and for good reason. Also heartless, incompetent, laughable, shallow and megalomaniacal, authoritarian and desperately, gaspingly vain. Deeply racist, misogynistic, imbecilic and a thousand more. On it goes.
The list, if you can imagine, just got longer, as Trump has finally decided to put an end to DACA, the wonderfully successful, enormously inclusive Obama-era program that allowed nearly a million (so far) children of illegal immigrants remain in the country and become productive members of society, shielding them from deportation and instead giving them a viable and path to citizenship by helping them get work, go to school, get a drivers license, pay taxes and simply fulfill the dream of becoming true and vital citizens, all without fear of reprisal or persecution.
DACA, despite legal hurdles, has been one of the most elegant, successful solutions to the immigration problem, one resonating with trademark Obama-era compassion and thoughtfulness.

LGBT groups want Trump civil rights nominee blocked
An LGBT advocacy group is calling on the Senate Judiciary Committee to block President Trumps nominee to lead the Department of Justices civil rights decision.
In a Tuesday letter to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Lambda Legal argued that attorney Eric Dreiband is not committed to the department's cause.
The message being sent, first by the 2018 budget proposal and now by the nomination of Mr. Dreiband, could not be more clear: under President Trump and Attorney General Sessions, the Civil Rights Division will no longer be in the business of defending civil rights, the letter said.
The letter was written on Lambda's letterhead but is signed by more than 40 other groups, including the National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund, the National Women's Law Center and People For the American Way.

Giddy-looking Jeff Sessions calls deporting children the compassionate thing to do
In an act of cowardice, where he refused to take any questions, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the Trump administrations termination of DACA, the program that allows immigrants who came to the United States as children to remain in their homes.
Sessions has long been a staunch supporter of anti-immigrant policies, and he could hardly hide his delight in announcing this dreadful policy reversal a reversal that could affect 800,000 immigrants and cost the United States $460 billion.
This, according to Sessions, is the compassionate thing to do.
During his remarks, Sessions also spewed a number of repeatedly debunked lies about the supposed drain on American resources caused by immigrant children and that their very presence in the United States somehow increases crime rates. Those claims are blatantly false and are nothing more than a perpetuation of ugly racist stereotypes that have no basis in fact. The vast majority of so-called DREAMers are employed or in school and are contributing to the economy and to the country.

Police Shoot Man For Recording Them With Phone, They Feared For Their Lives
Sheriffs deputies in California claimed they feared for their lives after shooting a man who was filming them from his own garage.
The Sacramento sheriffs deputies shot Danny Sanchez on Friday. Sanchez is currently in the hospital at the UC Davis Medical Center, where he underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments, according to his father, John Sanchez.
The shooting occurred when the Sheriffs department SWAT team showed up to arrest a neighbor, Ben Ledford, 62, after he fired off an illegal machine gun from across the street.
When Sanchez saw the incident, and the SWAT team converge, he began recording from his garage. He assumed there wouldnt be any problem, since he was so far away from the incident, on his own property and even out on the edge of the garage.

Man charged with pepper-spraying transgender woman at 'Stand Against Hate' rally
ASBURY PARK Police arrested a 22-year-old Scotch Plains man who allegedly pepper-sprayed a transgender woman at a sign-making party held on the boardwalk in advance of the Stand Againt Hate rally that was held on Monday in the city's Springwood Park.
Morris May, a self-described former Progressive who has shifted to the Right, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose after an alleged altercation with a transgender woman on Sunday night. May was released on his own recognizance to await a court date scheduled for Oct. 17.
Reached by phone following his release, May said he went to Asbury Park with his brother, William, 20, after hearing about the sign-making party that LGBT activists were holding at a gallery on the boardwalk called Gift. His brother and May were carrying a "Trump 2020" sign and approached a group of LGBT activists who were outside the gallery, he said.
"My brother and I are both hard-core conservatives," said May, adding that he supports three things: "liberty, free speech and the Republican Party."
