That's a photo of Kirby Drive

It runs through River Oaks, the wealthiest 'hood in Houston, and actually was torn up like that with a drainage overhaul a year or two ago. Still, the Photoshop could have been better, and so could the proofreading.

Everybody lately is crowding in on The Onion's turf. Not that this is a bad thing...

He's admitted exactly that

Here he is talking about Phil Griffin...

“He works us one-on-one,” says Chris Matthews. “You’re never going to see Phil having a big group together.” The two have the occasional lunch or dinner, and pressed for personal details, Matthews recalled admiring Griffin’s dancing ability at a mutual friend’s wedding. Professionally, Matthews says he instinctively trusts his boss. “You may think I’m tougher than that,” he says, “but inside I basically do what he wants me to do.”

It's too simple to call Matthews an egomaniacal douchebag and a lickspittle to his bosses. All he really craves is to be an insider. He wants access to powerful people; not so much money and power for himself. I believe that his only essential persona is blowhard and starfucker. He's just that guy who keeps his great job because he sucks up to the bosses.
