Could it be, maybe, that cutting back on the government, and then cutting back some more

on the government, could be at least partly to blame? If we're trying to shrink government down so small we can drown it in a bathtub, then maybe we need to stop doing that so relentlessly? It costs money to get new computers and up-to-date equipment, AND to STAY up-to-date with all the technology that seems to update itself every minute on the minute...

That does take funding. It takes funding for equipment and funding to hire people to do this, run this, install this, troubleshoot this, and patrol this - helping the State Dept people learn it and work with it without fucking up too much, and keep it updated - AS WELL AS the increasingly critical monitoring of it for security purposes and protect it from hackers.

That takes money.

And frankly, considering the calculating manipulations that we have seen netanyahu pull, sticking that nice shiv into President Obama's back, him and his ambassador BOTH sneaking around behind our President's back with boner and pulling this sneaky-ass manipulative posturing just for a photo-op to brag about back home. I wouldn't be surprised, if he's THAT sneaky, that he doesn't have plenty of other ways to fund his campaigns. I wouldn't expect a guy like this to play fair and follow rules, any more than I'd expect the GOP to play fair and follow rules.

I keep thinking back to the story told about LBJ, early in his career, running for office in Texas. He accused his opponent of - um - sleeping with pigs. He knew full well it didn't apply, factually. But he did it anyway. THE POINT WAS: MAKE HIM DENY IT!!!!

WHY can't we do that now? MAKE 'EM face and have to deal with charges of treason. Make 'em deal with it. Make 'em dance around it and deny it and harrumph it and foam at the mouth. Why can't we do that?
