Thom Hartmann: Did Anonymous Save the Election from Karl Rove?

Remember on election night - when Karl Rove questioned Fox News' call that Ohio had gone for President Obama? Well it turns out hacker group extraordinaire Anonymous may have had something to do with that…or did he (or she)?

1. Hats Off to Thom H. for following this story. Hopefully

once the significance of these election night events sinks into the
public awareness, we will get REAL election reform to do away with
e-voting altogether; especially since e-voting means that GOP-leaning
PRIVATE Corporations literally "OWN" our elections.

Go Thom!!!

2. A little bit of an oops? Thom, this one's already been posted ...several times.

I put it up myself, a couple of days ago. Or last week, actually:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021829467

Might explain the lack of response here so far.

There were other threads that got more attention and a greater response, but mine's the easiest to find.

....I thought it was interesting or in some way revealing, that not everyone thought it was a good thing to post the link. That some folks might have been trying to divert attention away from the possibility that an election-theft-event was thwarted. I got some "aw come on, really, this is bad. It'll hurt progressives," feedback. But that's probably a separate issue from a late post.

....In hindsight, if you happen to go through that thread, I wish I hadn't been on my lunch hour and a little hurried. I wouldn't have used that very last word, "dictatorship." In the final post. "Orwellian self-interest," or "rigged system benefiting the few at the top," or something along those lines would have been better.

3. Not so. These are two completely different clips, on different days

Published on Nov 16, 2012 - With the Capital Building in the background,
without (m)any supporting clips, which is 9 minutes long.

Published on Nov 20, 2012 - With neutral backdrop and lots of clips and graphics,
interspersed throughout, and which is 10 minutes, 30 seconds long.

I posted the first one several days ago, as part of an OP on DU, here:

Not many comments, but this has 16 Recs so far ... so I'm happy

It's definitely a topic worth following.

PS -- add edit:

People are still talking about Rove's reaction and the vote un-flip. Like right this minute, on the radio, Stephanie Miller and the Mooks.

So many here at DU need to wake up to what has been happening in this country. There are reports about it, films about it, books about it, but the only way people will hear about it is if we install it in a suppository as they bury their heads in the sand. Wake up!!!!!

And as far as John Kerry goes..... He requested money to pay for the lawyers to fight at the end but then laid down like a baby gone a napping. My guess is that he got the memo about John Edwards' dirty little secrets that would hit the news if Kerry refused t concede. Kerry never did return the money!

Life in Ohio is not easy. Our eyes have been open since 2004. It is time for the country to join us in the real world.

We received our request via email a week before the election with a note that he was lawyer-ing up to fight the fight post election. Didn't happen as you know and the money should have been returned.

How hard can it be. National elections are one instance where the high-tech age is NOT an improvement thanks to Rove and his ilk.

8. Can Anonamous produce the proof of these "tunnels" etc. to the extent that it would
Wed Nov 21, 2012, 11:27 AM

definitive proof allowing for an investigation and possible indictments? I am a computer illiterate so I do not understand how it works, I just know that we have virtually no security in our voting. I have been very concerned about this issue since I watch a clip of Stephen Spoonamore, a Republican, who testified in the 2004 hacking case. He explained how the system works and compared it to the security of our credit card system. He showed how easy it was for them to do in 2004, and stated this, "If they (Republicans) are willing to spend a billion dollars trying to get Mitt Rmoney elected, do you think they would not spend 2 million to assure that victory?" It is scary that Rove's IT guy who was tied to the Tn., company, and for whom his attorney requested protection be given to him, was killed flying his small plane just days before he was to testify! This is high stakes Hollywood movie type shit! How much coverage did this get considering it put the wrong guy in the White House?

10. Thom is wrong. Reporting the vote count on the Internet is NOT counting the votes. Ohio counted
Wed Nov 21, 2012, 03:20 PM
Nov 2012

county by county and the totals are reported to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State was internet hosted on Smartech servers to interface with public demand to view the results on the WWW. The counties know what their vote counts are and even had to complete their counts, provisional and absentee, and report their official totals before the deadline. Counties are in control of their numbers, they record and report the results on a precinct basis.

Blackwell hired the Republican IT guru! Who's shocked? Someone creates a CT, no surprise either.
To cover-up the actual crime, the more conspiracy theories surrounding Ohio 2004 the better?

Thom gets too much wrong here to address it all.
This has no credibility even though he weaves a lot of facts.
He gets it wrong forcing the facts into the conspiracy version.

So, we know he has it wrong even before he gets to the Anon stuff.
