(27,985 posts)I'm not sure I buy the anonymous story but I do know Karl thought he had something in the bag, whether vote tampering, suppression or just good old delusional Karl Rove thinking - but no matter the scenario, he took huge sums of money from people promising them something that he didn't deliver on. Right about now, all he has going for him is that he's famous and in the public view, like Julian Assange. As a matter of fact, they are like the light and dark side of things and they share the same thin thread keeping them alive. I was hoping he would slink off into obscurity and into one of the great lakes, but he, while being a putrid turdblossom, is not stupid. He's a smart disgusting worm, so he will stay in the public's eye and we will de facto protect him from some very angry, very rich people.
I don't mind shielding Julian Assange. It pisses me off to serve the same purpose for Karl Rove.

(28,498 posts)Rove, it turns out, had no idea what was going to happen in the election. His prediction was so far off what actually happened, many thought it would signal the end of American Crossroads' influence on the GOP. Rove has faced criticism from within the GOP in the election's hangover.
Rove was so stunned when election results were announced live on Fox News he tried to argue with the network's data center over their decision to call the race. It was a very public, and unintentional, tar-and-feathering level embarrassment for Rove. The segment ended with questions being raised over Rove's role on the network. Is it still okay to use Rove as a political analyst, something he's more than qualified for from his time with the Bush campaign, when he's so involved with what he's supposed to cover? Rove doesn't just have a dog in the race; he has hundreds of millions of dollars invested in that dog.
Politico's Kenneth Vogel reports things aren't going so well at Crossroads, either. Rove had to face a conference call full of angry investors asking why their money didn't do what it was supposed to. Donors "weren't saying anything like, 'Hey, you dumb son of a b,'" Stan Hubbard told Vogel. "It was all very businesslike. It was as if you were in a business conference and you were a retailer and why didnt this product sell better?" It was a civil conversation, but it's still something Rove isn't used to: people don't question Karl Rove.

My only question is how can anyone have the nerve to flip votes and get away with it? Especially in this election where attention was paid to voter suppression.
Anonymous warned Rove they would watch his servers on election day. I'm surprised he thought he could still get away with it.
I want to hear Rove's reaction in an interview on what he thinks about Anonymous watching him.
Annonymous was also going to present evidence to WikiLeaks I thought.
But anyway, I'll never forget Rove's reaction on election night. I watched it live and it was priceless. Kudos to the hactivists that made our day.

(19,326 posts)WOW! I hadn't heard that on yet. That would be stellar ... to get all the damning evidence proving Rove's complicity in e-vote cheating, all that exists, or at least enough to insure some kind of conviction and prison time.
Thanks for the tip.

(17,301 posts)but what it was, I'm not sure.
He was flabbergasted when Fox called Ohio for Obama. He wasn't just whining. He was trying to tell Fox that they had called Ohio wrong and that this calling of elections wrong had been done before in 2000 and especially in 2004. Everything was set up to steal the election in Ohio for RepubliCONS yet again. So, I wonder what happened?
Will Anonymous take credit and provide evidence? Were RepubliCONS overexposed and unable to use their cheat machine? Inquiring minds want to know.

Think about it, if our government would stoop to terrifying its citizens and refusing them the right to vote, what else might they do? Incarcerate (in solitude) American citizens for showing us a video of other Americans murdering innocent civilians? Send people to unknown black op sites to be tortured and allow Guantanamo bay to continue to hold questionable guilty people for a decade. See the slippery slope?

I am thankful though that I am a member of a party that has members willing to question crazy in its other members, and not become a group think echo chamber the GOP has become. Keep up the good work Romneylies, and don't be angry too much, they are good Dems and liberals, they are just caught in bad schema originating from their lizard parts of their brain, and not accessing the higher logical mind; it is hard to be rational with people, caught in the bubble, in that state. It is a shame that Tom Heartman is doing that too, such a smart guy but is going down this irrational, anti-intellectual pass.

(36,437 posts)They would have provided
1. The code for the original "theft" - that is, the code that broke into Ohio voting machines and changed votes
2. A description for the functioning of that code
3. The code they wrote to prevent the "theft" from happening
All of this would be verifiable by any third party programmer looking at the code.
The fact that none of these things were provided indicates that this so-called Anonymous claim is at best agitprop, but certainly does not describe an event that really took place and involved computers.
Ultimately, programmers are scientists. Scientists provide evidence for the verification of their claims. The fact that Karl Rove was flustered on election night is not evidence for verification of this claim. Only the code would be.
Coyotl
(15,262 posts)And then doing something to secure the process.
But, this is just supposedly all happening in an unexplained nebulous cloud of technology that no one understands here, so no one here questions if it can even happen in the first place.
The problem is no one looks to science for facts, they just believe what they want to believe and don't need facts to make it even slightly plausible.
alcibiades_mystery
(36,437 posts)1) How ORCA could interact with the tabulating software
2) How another program could either stop or reverse the interaction.
You know, real technical things that have to happen for this story to be accurate.
It really is amusing seeing the faith-based reasoning attach itself to technology: yes, the Anonymous (the omnipotent) did something we couldn't possibly understand (we being mere mortals), the very explanation of which is too sublime for our mortal understanding!
This is straight out of medieval theology.
The very faith in Anonymous is pre-scientific. Their 'saving" of the Ohio vote is a "miracle."

Rove not to try it again or else THEN he would release the incriminating
info.
Of course all this is rumor and here-say about someone(s) who remain

apparently driving some on DU out of their minds with anxiety and
