Sea Turtle's JournalCan you survive a month at home?
Do you have on hand the supplies to survive comfortably for a month? Do you have enough extra to help your neighbors? Or, will you depend on the government/Trump administration to help you? Social programs and safety nets provided by the government are super important. Sometimes though, we have to be the safety nets for ourselves and our own communities.
I dont know what will happen with the coronavirus. I do know that if I was asked/told to stay in for a month that I could do it and help a couple of neighbors too. I am not afraid of dying. I am in great health. I am concerned that if it was spreading in my community that I could get it and spread it to someone who isnt healthy enough to survive it. We have to think about our fellow man and care for one another.

At the hospital
At the hospital with a neighbor. She doesnt have any friends or family that came. She has been here all day alone until I came. She probably doesnt have long. Maybe a few days or few weeks at best.
Just a thought, take time to be kind to everyone you meet, even if they give you a good reason to dislike them. You never know what is going on behind the scenes.
Elections and who we vote for are important, but how we treat people is more important. Obama said, be the change you hope for or something close to that. Find someone tomorrow and give them a smile or a kind word. Kindness changes the world for good.
That is my rant for the day.
The ghost of primaries past
Just a diversion from the current primary season, looking back in past primaries, who didnt get the nomination that you most wish would have and think would have made a great president?
Which cartoon character would you pick for President?
With so many heated and passionate threads, I thought it might be fun to have a whimsical thread about which cartoon character you would pick for President and why. Thoughts?
I know it will be all fun and games until the BS Bros show up. LOL (Bart Simpson)
Jimmy Carter the greatest ex president, thoughts?
We focus, rightly so, on who will be or who was a great or terrible president, but not so much in real world impact after they leave office.
Carter certainly had a rough go of things while he was in office for one reason or another. But, since he has left office, he has had a really great run of unifying people from all political persuasions to join together the help fellow Americans and many around the world.
If you ask most anyone what good has Carter done since leaving office, mostly people could easily point to Habitat for Humanity or one of his disease eradication programs.
Can people so clearly and easily point to good any others have done after leaving office? I am not just talking the current crop of other living presidents, but all 44 of them.
Thoughts?
My first thread!
I have been lurking here since late 2000. I finally decided to join. So here my first thread-something snarky, something thoughtful, something controversial, something unifying-never mindjust hello
