Interesting factoids from the TWC tech
Edited on Tue Mar-22-11 04:10 PM by supernova
who came to my house today. We had bundled the TV, phone, and internet about a year ago, but last week we cancelled the TV part. So the tech comes out to turn off the TV signal and this is what he tells me:

-Orders for Sat and Cable TV are down 40% from last year. He is pulling a lot of TV from people's homes.

-He is under the impression that the Gov't may reintroduce ANALOG as a means for people to keep cheap TV.

I guess Netflix, Hulu and other streaming forms are really putting a bite in traditional cable and PPV services.

1. Thanks for that info.
Comcast finally came up my hill a few weeks ago. I looked into it, but even with introductory offers, it was outrageously expensive.

3. with the price of cable it was bound to happen
I used to be a TWC tech way back in the day, best part of the job was the free cable. Anyway, we gave up an extra cable box not to long ago because of the cost, next to go will be the pay channels then back to basic and on down till we just get internet and phone. The prices are just to high.

I say this even though we both have good jobs I just can't imagine trying to keep up with the payments if we lost even one of our jobs.

I hooked up an inexpensive indoor (amplified) antenna to the TV that had the box on it and we lucked out and get great reception. The extra channels coming by digital are a nice bonus. I don't think we will be going back to analog, I think no one is even making those TV's anymore and the digital reception, at least for us is great. I know some folks have problems but that was true of analog too.
