Just thought I'd let you know, that's how Access rolls.

EDIT NOTE: Only reason I use the save button is if I'm building a Query or changing the structure to the DB (like rearranging the fields in different order)

1. Yep
I only use "save" when changing report parameters. Once a number hits a field in the database, it can only go away by making it go away on purpose.

Come to think of it, that's correct.
Access isn't like an MS Word document that you have to save each time there's a change.

Good point!

2. That is what I was thinking.
What's this thing about inputting via form though?

7. Inputting thru a form would be manual data entry in a user friendly method.
Once the date is entered the operator has a chance to make changes or cancel it entirely. But only for that one record. Once the operator is satisfied with the entry they can follow the procedure to enter another record. When the operator starts entering a new record the previous record is totally saved along with all others before it.

The only way the records would not be saved otherwise is if she did the Rose Mary Woods not saved technique.

There are two ways of entering data. Creating a form or using the browse method.

If she imports the data from excel or other electronic data file it would also be saved into the database. Unless the data type is different for a field. But only for those fields in the records that don't have the right data type. Date must be date, character must be character, numerical must be numerical, etc.

3. The only way the election is going to be straightened out is by manual review of paper documents
I take most things that people say about what happened on a computer with a large amount of salt.

4. I hold most things suspect on a personal computer only accessible by someone
who use to work for one of the 2 candidates and has donated several hundred dollars to the party of said candidate.

5. I give no credibility to an insecure file on an insecure system no matter who owns it
I'm a Systems Administrator.

6. I just heard on the Stephanie Miller show that some precints
"ran out of paper ballots" and were switched to touch screens. Coincidence?

8. Does the touch screen system used in that situation produce an auditable paper output?
Specifically a printout that can be viewed by the voter, and is kept secure?

Not all "touch screen" systems are insecure.
