Rescue of loyal dog and friend in Japan UNCONFIRMED

The owner of a pet food company claims he rescued the dogs on motorbikes and has been
raising money on Facebook in the name animal rescue. However, he has refused to provide
any proof that the dogs were indeed rescued.

Please use caution when donating to animal rescue efforts in Japan. After Katrina hit, there
was a spate of scam artists jumping on the rescue bandwagon. I hope this isn't the case with
these dogs who desperately needed help.

Global Animal is trying to get information on the dogs. Here's a link to their blog updates:

1. I had thought the owner of that dog food company adopted both of them.
:kick:

2. You'd think the rescuers would stay on top of it

Regular visits and updates on the condition of the dogs. If this rescue claim is a scam in order to
make money, this person will be charged for animal cruelty. There were a lot of concerned people
who would have gone in there and rescued them, but a news blast was that they were being cared
for. THAT is a crime in itself. I hope this isn't the case. I hope they were rescued and that this guy
isn't milking people for their money...

3. I even looked the guy's dog food company up to see if he sold
cat food. I was going to support him that way. Of course, when I saw the prices and converted them from yen to dollars, I knew I couldn't afford it. I'm kind of glad now. What would have worked out to one meal for one of my cats would have been around $11.50 in US money. :wow:

I won't name it here, because just in case he's not for real, I don't want to give his dog food company any exposure. Those animals deserved to be rescued and taken care of, not used in some scam. :(
