Wallace called UCLA police Sunday to report that hundreds of angry people had left phone and e-mail messages saying they were offended by her rant, said campus spokesman Phil Hampton.

The vast majority of those were more annoying than threatening," Hampton said. ''But out of an abundance of caution, campus police are investigating a small number of them to determine if crimes were committed." >
