Sandra Bullock has donated $1 million to the Red Cross for Japan disaster relief, her rep confirms to Scoop. While other celebrities have made various gestures to encourage donation and raise money, this is the largest known donation made by a celebrity since the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis.

This isn't the first time that Bullock has risen to the occasion charitably. She was honored for her contributions in rebuilding a New Orleans public school after Hurricane Katrina and last year donated $1 million for earthquake victims in Haiti.

Glamour magazine awarded Bullock the “Undercover Activist” award at the its “Women of the Year” Awards in 2006. The actress was celebrated for quietly donating millions to the Red Cross after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the 2004 tsunami without trying to get publicity for her charitable actions.

The difference between the Pharisee and one who truly cares about people.

I'm almost certain that was one donation and there were others.

14. But...but...but...
....when the rich and powerful donate money it is because they are trying to advance a cause and they have evil ulterior motives.

At least that is what I learned from the Bill Gates charity threads a couple of weeks back....

Good for you, Ms. Bullock. You are (at least seem to be from a stranger's eye) a classy and caring person.

19. Extremely generous,
and greatly appreciated by the afflicted, I'm sure.

...

Given the design, volume of other material in the bottom of the pool, it may take significantly less water than total pool-capacity to achieve important effects. Of course, some water will probably turn to steam, but it also appears that some water is left in the pool; so this seems doable.

Moreover, power must be restored as soon as possible, and every effort made to restore cooling functions.

Everyone must strive to the utmost!
