2. You're quite welcome.
I've been thinking about it for days, and finally found it at this site:

11. Bullshit.
My father-in-law has patents on new solar panels. He's 84 and has been working on this for decades.

Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 01:24 AM by Confusious

It ain't going to be the guy in the barn with his Mr.Fusion making the solar panels. It's going to be one of many corporations, and unless things change, "meet the new master, same as the old master"

Based on the history of a majority of corporations from the past. It's always "meet the new master, same as the old master"

Technology, Sources. The government gives leases, when it comes to oil, so they don't "own" the sources, if you want to argue semantics. They "own" the means to get the product. Same goes for some coal mines, uranium mines and gas.

You might want to look up Argument from authority. If you can't figure out how it applies, I'll explain it to you.

34. with solar, control of power will never be centralized
Because solar cell installations have no economy of scale, and there is no proprietary control of key manufacturing secrets, I don't think solar panels are ever going to be something controlled by any big bossdom.

On the other hand, it's not going to be any replacement for the cheapness and convenience of petroleum... that was a one-time gift from our planet.

22. Maybe it's because I come from New York, that has plenty of water
but I have a time understanding how people let laws like this get passed in the first place.

I can understand not being able to pull water from a river or stream, but rainwater that is free, that falls on my property, is not legally mine? That is some serious BS.

Can they fine you or do you have to pay for pulling water from a well or a spring on your own property? If you have cattle can you create a pond on your land to collect water for them?

It's no longer true that a mans home is his castle, so I guess there is no reason to collect water for your moat.

32. Unfortunately, LABOR doesn't own itself -- we should be organizing LABOR
person by person -- unrelated to the workplace --

and take that to the states and demand universal health care!

Let's have companies and corporations come to UNITED LABOR when they need

employees -- and we set the terms, the salaries and conditions!!

33. EXACTLY! They can't put a meter on the sun
That's the ONLY reason why renewables have not been used more. The power grid MUST be de-centralized. People should be able to use small hydro, solar, and wind power to power their own homes, and sell the power back to the grid.
