A Message for the GOP from US Veterans
About the proposed $75 Million cut for Homeless Veterans Housing.

Dear GOP,

On behalf of my fellow Vets, those still serving and the seniors you will go after next I would like to thank you for the $75m in cuts you made to our programs, after repeated denials and statements to the contrary.

Hopefully, this will serve as an eye opener to those of my brothers and sisters in arms who are still under the delusion that you had our backs.

I also hope that seniors, those folks, who you actually do fear, see this betrayal as a portent of what you have in store for them and for Soc Sec and Medicare.

Please save the BS about everyone pitching in. Because Everyone is not 'pitching in' particularly you.

Be advised that we too will march on DC when the time comes but we will not be carrying signs demanding birth certificates ,

Yours truly,

-Betrayed US Military Veterans

2. Once a soldier or sailor at war, always a vet
That is a problem for Republicans who don't believe in entitlements. Those nasty social contracts are ruining the greatness of the empire, and taking away money that should be in one of the puppet master's hands.

There MUST be a way to privatize those homeless shelters so that profit, err, I mean marketplace efficiencies can be used to wisely spend taxpayer money. Mustn't there?'

7. War has nothing to do with serving.
When I served it was the cold war, we were no less ready and able.

9. It has to do with how Congress authorizes veterans benefits.
and who is eligible for what. Not trying to say anything else.

We make veterans with a lot of jingoism for heroes and patriotic speeches and then in the years and decades later the costs needed to help those veterans becomes burdensome...

It's an old story. There's less resistance in Congress to making soldiers and sailors than there is to supporting the vets they turn into.

3. "we will not be carrying signs demanding birth certificates"
Damn straight. I've decided to restructure "Pitchforks 'R' Us" into a mobile business -- kiosks in malls, booths at county fairs (and demonstrations), and trucks who'll travel neighborhoods like your friendly local ice cream vendor (you know, the one who plays "Turkey in the Straw" through the van's speakers all @#$%^&* day long -- except I envision our neighborhood vendors will be playing "Ride of the Valkyries"...)

4. Thanks for the Rec's and I gotta say
How fucked up is a group of people how are willing to abandon US, the men and women who PROUDLY wore the uniform of our great nation.

Fuck the Republican's who endorse, or even thought of something so vile as the abandonment of the U.S. Veteran. They truly are evil.

10. K & R i tried to tell a local vet's group i encountered at their
booth at the county fair last year that the repubs do NOT have their back and they were surprised. i don't know if they took my advice and checked repub voting records on veteran's issues but all vets should. repubs only talk a good game and it's always been so.

11. It's the way this country has treated EVERY veteran after wars.
THE US sends our sons and daughters (and mothers and fathers thanks to dubya) to 'fight for freedom" or "fight for our way of life". It's all bullshit - we are fighting 'to protect American interests'. Read this.

12. K&R- As both a "senior" and a veteran, thanks for the OP...
but this is an old American tradition...the country really needs your service, until it does not then you cease to exist.
