What does it mean for Madison to have 100,000 people in the Capitol protest?

For a bit of perspective--Madison has a population of about 236,000. That means that the number of demonstrators is approaching half the normal population of the city. (I'm certainly not suggesting that all--or even a majority--of the protestors are Madisonians, just trying to give a glimpse of the magnitude of this thing.)

1. Thank goodness so many are protesting - but I'm not surprised to see it in Madison.

If we had to pick a place in the Midwest to make a stand this is the city I would pick due to the UW and it's progressive leanings and history. You need the kids - they have the energy and resolve to do this thing. I am very, very proud of them right now.

2. Think of the business it is bringing in, I know I spent a few bucks in Madison.

So Wisconsin is open for business after all.

3. What does it mean to have the Murdock/Main $tream Media not mention it?

It is time to boycott the right! They only profit if we give them what little money they have not yet taken!

5. Hell yes, boycott them, starting with the Koch companies,

particularly paper products made by Georgia-Pacific. We need to use every peaceful tool at our disposal.

Remember that wherever there are large demonstrations that go uncovered, or that get the Fox Lie coverage, there are people on the ground who are seeing the failures of the media and losing trust in them. The difference between our media and the old Soviet Pravda is that the Russians knew the media were routinely lying. As our media keep doing their thing, people around the country are learning not to trust them. Every time the people see a large demonstration followed by media silence, they learn. The corporate propaganda machine is digging its own grave in state capitals around the country.

Then celebrate the fact that we have the new social media with which to circumvent the M$M. Other places have had their regime changes without the help of the official media; I firmly believe it will happen here too.

7. How many people even know how long it's been going on for?

I've asked a few folks over the last few days, saying something like "did you know it's been 11 days?" (or however many days it had been going on at the time). EVERYONE was surprised and said something like "No, wow, really? I didn't realize it's been that long." NOT ONE PERSON SAID "oh sure, I knew that".

Gigantic media fail.
