I was watching a local Columbus TV news report on the SB 5 protest in Columbus today and I just had to laugh. First of all, let it be known that pretty much all the news media in Columbus is controlled by the right-wing, so it's always going to be pretty well slanted in that direction. This report was no different.
First they showed the crowd, which I would estimate was about 90% AGAINST SB 5, and mentioned how they had been doing a lot of chanting and how they "weren't there to speak at the hearings, but more to cheer for or against the speakers who were."
Then, of course, there HAD to be the obligatory mention of the handful of teabaggers who showed up. They showed a group of 3 teabaggers (2 women and a man, all well over 60 years old). The teabaggers complained about how badly they were being treated by the overwhelmingly anti-SB 5 group. The first old lady said, "Oh, they said horrible things to us like, 'Go home.' And then I asked them, well, don't you believe in freedom of speech, and they said, 'Not for you.'" Oh, the horror. The horror. How will she EVER recover from such a traumatic experience?
And just in case you were wondering, they didn't bother to talk to any of the Anti-SB 5 crowd about some of the things the teabaggers were saying or doing to them.
