He is a custodian at a Middle School. And President of AFSCME Local 2485
He has worked for nearly thirty years cleaning up Republican's kid puke and cleaning the bathrooms twice a day in a very Republican city not far from Madison.
It is a good job, a hard job that is sometimes backbreaking.
Clearing snow, sweeping and polishing. Walker says he makes too much money and wants to make him pay more for his benefits and pension. Reducing his pay by 14-18%.
He went to Madison to stop the selective taxation of our public workers.
His Words:
"...as AFSCME Local 2485 Prez in Waukesha WI, we are VERY concerned that we will lose all bargaining rights. AFSCME represents nearly 200,000 middle income families in Wisconsin. Our local could lose 40+ years of negotiating workers rights in one vote. My father signed our 1st contract. I don't want to have signed the last."
