Driving less here
First because I retired but let me add too much traffic and nuts on the road, too expensive to drive plus my car has 80,000 miles on it and would like it to last for several years. It is also cheaper for me to have my groceries delivered - not tempted to buy things that corporations put out in the aisles luring people to buy. I make my list and order on the internet. The delivery person won't take tips and is not allowed plus as he said when he delivered my groceries the last time, "they take good care of us and you are keeping me in a job, thank you." I also have my organic veggies and fruits delivered. I am not buying things need I don't need.

I now fill my tank just close to once a month.

2. Can't live without a car in LA, I'm heavily considering buying a hybrid.
Specifically I'm looking at the Ford Fusion and the Hyundai Sonata. I'm leaning more towards the Sonata because of the warranty.

15. I drove a Prius, didn't like it.
The ones at the top of my list are the Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Optima. All have hybrid models.

3. On the fill up once a month, me too!
But I do like to shop for food. However, I find it easy to stick to my list. I plan out my menus according to the supermarket's flyer in every Thursday local newspaper to see what is on sale that week. Hubby clips the coupons. It's a big effort to do all this planning but we save an awful lot of $$. Last week it was nearly $22 off our grocery bill...the highest it's ever been!

4. Good for you! I, too. . .am driving less. . .
though I still drive to work, I am looking at alternatives (my small city has free bus service) and when the weather warms again, I'll be riding my bicycle. Right now, I probably fill my tank about once every three weeks.

I still do all my own grocery shopping, but am getting much stricter about sticking to a list - and using coupons/specials. I rarely go to the movies any longer (I have Netflix and blue-ray at home). . .

5. I really only drive very much in the summer...
I have a summer job that forces me to drive but for most of the year, I really only drive a few miles/week. Much of the time, I leave the house only once a week to run errands, go to the library, and pick up groceries. There are no stores here that deliver. Since I work at home, I can do this. And I really like not having to drive all the time.

8. I'm changing my lifestyle
Everything is costing more and I receive SS and a small pension. This year more money was taken out of my pension - like $40.00 a month. Now they are talking giving less in the pension. I can't remember that last time I went to the movies but go out to eat lunch once a week just to get out of the apartment.

6. I feel lucky to live in
San Francisco where public transportation is abundant. I don't have a car any more, and can rely on all the many forms of transportation the city has to offer, including (ding ding!)

7. What a great service!
Our son who works at Publix often shops for us now (of course we tip him). That saves on another trip to the store, too.

They tried it here around the turn of the century. Didn't last long.

12. 55,000 miles on my '93 truck
Which would be lower if I still enjoyed a safe and sane bicycle route to work.
