Ohio woman says she was injured by Skechers shoes

FAIRFIELD, Ohio - Shape up without going to the gym? It seems too good to be true, but that's exactly what Skechers Shape Ups shoes advertise.

Holly Ward, of Fairfield, in southwest Ohio, gave them a try.

"I just wanted to tone up a bit. I'm already walking, I might as well wear shoes that benefit me as well," said Ward, a server at a restaurant in West Chester.

She wore the shoes to work for five months then started to experience severe pain. She paid her doctor a visit.

"The MRI came back a few days later and that's when he realized that both femoral necks had been fractured," said Ward.

Snip~ She claims, and doctors agree, that the injuries were caused from wearing the Skechers Shape Ups.

On Edit: Spelling error

Granted I only use them on the treadmill or for a trip to the mall...but I haven't had any problems.

5. Wearing any shoes exclusively for five months to work is a bad idea.

But when I hear about such suits, I always remember Stella Liebeck and what the propaganda/PR machine did to her...

6. I have a knee problem and was told by a friend ( a nurse) that she wears them and
they really help her. I have tried them and yes my knee(s) feel a lot better, but I have not worn them extensively or exclusively.

comfortable and I wear them when I know I'm going to be walking on concrete....they keep my back from hurting. I didn't buy them to lose weight or even tone up, I bought them to relieve the pressure on my low back and they work for that.

13.  I had an excruciating condition called plantar fasciitis
for about a year, and now I have to wear solid supportive shoes so it does't come back. My podiatrist says he's seeing all kinds of stress injuries from those shape-up shoes and warns his patients never to wear them. I'm glad they help you though. Back pain is the worst!

12. They work great on my arthritic feet! (Different brand, though)
I got them for two reasons: I wear flip flops 90% of the year and I need shoes with a thick sole. FitFlops fit the bill, and if I get other benefit from them, great but they definitely keep my feet from getting sore. If I had to wait tables, I'd get the closed-toe version for sure. But that's just my anecdote.

14. Freakish. I have these shoes, and I love them.
They are about the only thing I can wear that keeps my back from hurting if I'm going to be standing or walking for any length of time. They are fantastically comfortable, though you do have to get used to wearing them at first, because your feet are rolling on that rounded sole. I find that motion enjoyable, though. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't wear them just for limited times.
