1. I've seen every episode. Of course the Hoffman's would be compensated
for being on a reality show. Don't know if it makes of for spending $250K to find 3K in gold.

how the Hoffman's are compensated.

3. The Hoffman's are Comedy "Gold"
They should be compensated for allowing themselves to be seen as "fools"

5. True. They are there to entertain. Without TV compensation and lifeline,
those clowns would go down in flames -or ice as the case may be.

7. Oh, the environmentally destructive
cretins runnning loose up in Alaska?
Never watched but I can guess at the destruction they wreak.
Besides, isn't Discovery a Caribou Barbie enricher?

11. That is one of the reasons I won't watch it.
I saw a commercial with them digging huge holes in the wilderness and it pissed me off. Then another commercial showed someone going after a bear with a gun and I started yelling at the tv that the damn bear belonged there and their assed didn't.

I decided it would be better for my blood pressure to not watch. I won't even watch the commercials.

12. I couldn't wait to see the series
After a few episodes I couldn't take it anymore.

Try to imagine such an ill-equipped, ill-prepared, ill-qualified group actually undertaking a mission like that. The old man really thinks he's gonna strike it rich?

:puke:

"Fools looking for gold" is what it should have been named.

14. ALL those Discovery 'reality' shows compensate their performers.
Those guys would have had a better chance getting rich by taking all the money they wasted and purchasing lottery tickets.

15. Lol IMO the closest thing to a 'real' reality show was
Les Stroud's show Survivor Man, which I really love

but I do hope that they come up with a little something for their efforts besides whatever Discovery is paying them.

21. I just saw it for the first time today

And I bet they will all of a sudden discover a large gold stash in the season finale. It has to be a happy ending, and even if the big gold discovery is set up and a scam, it wouldn't make good tv if in the finale they all had to go home in failure.

22. Panning? There is something almost no one knows about.
Few people have even the slightest clue what the panning was all about. It was not about finding gold and selling the gold.
The only way you could possibly make any money gold panning would be if you were paid to be on tv.
Does not everyone understand that when you go on tv, the whole idea is ... to get paid to do so?

23. I'm kind of embarrassed to say I got hooked on this stupid show
with these beyond stupid people. I figure they must be teabaggers the way they're always praying and blabbing about their freedom. Guess I'm hooked because I have to see if the idiots actually make enough to pay for this stupid venture (beyond their reality television fees). Now that I've admitted this, I have to go in search of a life.
