1. That kind of speculation always makes me laugh...
That the Democratic Candidate for President in 2000 was such a snoozer as to allow W to be close enough to steal the election says TONS, FUCKING TONS about Al Gore's candidacy.

Here's MY speculation... had Al Gore had the personality of a tree rather than that of a fucking ROCK, he'd have had the same landslide Ronald Reagan did when he won 49 out of 50 states, given that W was his opponent.

Al Gore got at least a half a million more popular votes than Dubya. As another poster said, the other side had to cheat to get their man in.

The kind of people who vote based on criteria like these are exactly the reason there's so many teabaggers in Congress right now.

Gore was basically a policy wonk with a long, well-established record of getting things done. The right had to cheat to defeat him. Obama had the face and the glib talk, but a solid history of pro-corporate, generally rightist actions, except a few social issues, and was easily voted in.
