Consider; patient a 44 year old woman, 35 weeks pregnant with 4 previous full term live births, 2 known miscarriages and fetus known to have signs of Downs syndrome calls her doctor to advise waking with leaking amniotic following a long flight.
Doctor does not:
1) advise patient to admit to the nearest maternity hospital immediately;
2) advise patient to call for a perinatal for a check up;
3) tell patient it would be inadvisable to be on her feet for long periods, e.g. for a speech at the Governors Conference,
4) advise against flying, let alone saying no to two flights of 4 hours with a layover between them.

When the patient landed in Juneau the Dr did not advise the patient to admit to Juneau Hospital, which had a specialist unit for difficult pre-term births, for even a basic check up but instead allowed the patient to make a long drive back to Wasilla to a local hospital that was inadequately equipped for such emergencies.

Any doctor who committed such a catalogue of mismanagement should be struck off.

Really now....how many women can't recall what hospital or even what town their babies were born in??
